Deck Description

The expensive part is Mimic Vat, but the deck only runs $4.22 above the deck challenge's "budget". It is a rather important piece, though. You can use it with Bala Ged Thief to lock out the opponent's hand, or trigger multiple Halimar Excavator's every turn.

General idea: Win by milling OR by dumping their creatures into their graveyard and stealing them with Agadeem Occultist. Altogether, fairly slow deck, but very fun to play, and deadly effective once it gets rolling.

[$0.52] x3 Grindclock [$1.56]

Deck discussion for Deck Challenge: T2 Budget Mill

i would suggest rite of replication for a 9mana= you win the game but with only 20 lands i don't know if you can carry such a heavy costing card...needs leyline of the void against eldrazi but that would ruin your occultist...hmmm anyway take a look at my mill deck

Hmm. Good point. I've never owned any Leylines, so I often forget about them when building a deck. I'll have to get a few of them to sideboard for this.

For Rite of Replication, our games usually end before 9 mana is in play (with a non-ramped deck). I'd rather get a set of Clones if anything. On an interesting note: Clone (and Jwari Shapeshifter) are awesome with Mimic Vat in play. Enters the battlefield, you chose not to have it etb as a copy of anything, it is a 0/0, and goes to the graveyard -> imprint.
