***************************************** Update: 9/5/12 ***************************************** I played this same list last week and ended up 2-2 (I left early). Went 2-0 vs two different mill / fog decks Lost 0-2 to the same Frites deck I beat the week before 2-0 (Lingering Souls created a lot of problems for me the first game and a very timely Ancient Grudge shut me down on game 2). I lost to another deck, but don't recall what it was right now. Overall, I still really enjoy this deck. The creatures start off pretty weak, but when equipped - can be very nasty. I'd like to have more play time with other popular decks to get a better feel how this would do and what changes should be made. ***************************************** I'm updating with results and actual deck list I played. ***************************************** FNM - 8/24/2012 Took 2nd place, went 10-2. ***************************************** 2-0 vs Myr / Artifact aggro. Newer player. Deck needed some tuning. 2-0 vs Mill - all mill and fog, no creatures at all. Quite scary actually. Luckily he didn't get Jace out. 2-0 vs Frites - Quality deck, but I had perfect hand for him first game. Second game, he was a little slow. Crusader with sword of feast still beats elsh norn! 0-2 vs Mono black Zombies - 1st game very close, 2nd game he got curse -1/-1 all my creatures and i couldn't get thru with crusader fast enough. Would like to have played more of these to get a better idea of the win / loss ratio. 2-0 vs RG ramp - Sort of like wolf run ramp I'd like to see how this does vs other high end decks. I was getting kills around turn 6-7 ***************************************** Original comments below ***************************************** Maybe we do this if we want to speed it up: -2 Nihil Spellbomb or -2 Tezzeret's Gambit -2 Sword of Feast and Famine +4 Mutagenic Growth Catherdral of War might be fun to mix in here too. Maybe run 4 Catherdral and 4 Inkmoth, then drop Lashwrite and Obliterator and replace with other creatures and pump effects.

I find B/G can be extremely fast. Turn 2 kills are possible with Groundswell's and Mutagenic Growth's on a Glistener Elf or something. I'm trying this deck out at the moment. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=312333 Works pretty damn well. If you're going mono black I couldn't imagine it being too fast.

Mono Black Infect is a deck type I fear playing against in any format, but one card I've had used on me time and time again by our resident MBI player that is horribly underrated is Virulent Wound. It slows down so many decks by killing their 1 drop creature and starts your poison count on the opponent. There've been quite a few games where I lost because just the rite amount of poison counters that would not have been if Virulent Wound wasn't cast on my one drop.
Ya, I agree. I'm frequently guilty of overlooking those early game cards and focusing more on the mid range to late game. This version is a good example as it really needs turn 5+ to finish. I've got some variants I've been considering. The following version is a little lower on the mana curve and has more creature control. So, I'm thinking it's more likely to finish faster. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=358493
