An Ajani life-gain deck based around 12 Essence Warden style creatures (the soul sisters) and plenty of life-gain triggers that works effectively at 2 mana and has a mana curve of 1. Lowest mana cost deck I've ever built
The basic goal for your starting hand is to have 1-3 of the sisters and at least two mana. Too much mana in your starting hand can hurt you. Creatures being played anywhere will gain you life so you have to pay close attention as cards are played. If you have Serra's Ascendant hold him until you life reaches upper 20s. Ajani Pridemate can become powerful quickly, especially when played early. Note Ajani's Pridemate triggers off each life gain, if played with 2 sisters on the field he will gain 2 counters as he enters. Rancor prevents chump blocking and can end a match. Archangel of Thune can quickly turn tides (and drive you crazy trying to keep up with counters lbs) and, along with Ajani's Ultimate, can ultimately be a win condition.

NOTE: Set by owner when deck was made.
i have always had a soft spot for the soul sisters. might i suggest spirit link as a substitute for rancor? it stacks with lifelink because its not keyworded. also Life goes on as a lifegain spell. consequently it also works well with kami of false hope.

the focus is on triggers not amount of life gained. rancor is there to get damage through so creatures can't be chump blocked.
