Deck Description

This is a modified take on an older combination. I've played the Channeler/Aura combo before, but I have found that speed has always been an issue. I'd get a Channeler but not an Aura, or vice versa.

For those of you not familiar with the Wirewood Channeler/Pemmin's Aura combo, it works as such:

As long as you control at least one other elf, tap the Channeler adding two U, use one U to untap the Channeler via Pemmin's Aura effect. You have one U floating; tap again for two U, use one to untap, leaving you two U floating. Continue tapping for mana of any color, making sure to add/leave at least one U mana in your pool to continue untapping the Channeler so that you may continue tapping for mana of any color. Bottom line, infinite mana.

To remedy this, Llanowar's and Urborg's offer alternate mana sources, and blue draw (perhaps even a Sylvan Library) can help ensure that the main combo of the deck is achieved.

The deck plays through CONSIDERABLY fast once the Channeler is out as long as you have a way to generate cards. Windfall, Braingeyser, and Deep Analysis (chosen for it's Flashback) accommodate this, while Serum VIsions offers some card quality in the early game.

Ultimately, the kill condition is Kamahl, using his second ability infinitely to pump a Forest (activated from Kamahl's first ability if you're 'that guy') or the Channeler itself, made flying with the Pemmin's. Alternatively, Braingeyser can be used one of two ways: card advantage or kill condition, forcing the opponent to draw out their deck. Ghitu Fire is splashed in as a 'one of' as a 'from left field,' instant kill condition.

Please note that I prefer Kamahl here because mana isn't an issue when the combo is out. Therefore, having the flexibility to attack with land is more valuable to me than being able to regenerate my elves (that may change in time, of course).

Fastest win is turn 4 (turn 3 Channeler, turn 4 Pemmin's (two elves in play = infinite mana) teamed up with Braingeyser, Kamahl, Flash of Insight, Compulsion, or Ghitu Fire (Brain/Flash to find Kamahl/Ghitu) on the same turn.

If you like this, or want criticize me further, feel free to take a look at my other decks. Insight is always appreciated.

Maybe Strip Mine instead of City of Brass. (So you don't have to lose a life when tapped)

Strip Mine taps for colorless mana, and while the City is a pinger, it does get me whichever I need. But to be frank, I rarely need the City, it's just awesome early on, and flexible.

Love it--I started playing just before Onslaught block, so a lot of these cards have a dear place in my heart, lol. You can see how my elf deck started out of that block, too--http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=103549. The only thing I'd look into possibly are some search cards--elvish harbinger for Channeler, and tutors (enlightened/diabolic) for aura, which you can play with Channeler. Also, maybe a vitalize--that way, if you can get kamahl out without the channeler combo, you can tap all your forests to turn them into creatures, then vitalize and overrun. Another great Kamahl combo you might be interested in for another deck:

Kamahl with a Goblin Sharpshooter + deathtouch= destroy all opponent's lands.

wow really nice combo.!!!!!!
what is your main reason for using ghitu fire?
i mean yeah you can produce tremendous amounts of mana with that combo and from whta i see its fire type is not an isue but wont you need the mana elsewhere in order to make the combo effective?
is it just something added for fun? (no intention to offend, i'm just trying to see your reason here)

The Wirewood Channeler will produce any type of mana infinitely when enchanted with Pemmin's Aura and one other elf in play. The Ghitu adds to my available kill conditions (Braingeyser to deck (or draw for me), Kamahl for mass rush with his pumping ability (infinitely with the Channeler combo), and Ghitu (as it can be cast instantly from my hand). Pretty much, it increases the likelihood of having a kill condition in my hand without having to search for it, and that means a faster game.

As long as I can get a Channeler/Aura combo out, I can pretty much get through my deck without any issue (and play anything that I draw in one turn (there have been times where I've gotten three Deep Analysis (6 cards), flashed them back (6 more), got a Windfall in the 12 (for 5 more due to my opponent's hand size), to get a Braingeyser (to draw my deck), and drop a Kamahl and swing with a 9001/9001 trampling forest for the kill)).

Compulsion + Channeler/Aura means I can draw out my deck to the first kill condition, Flash of Insight + Channeler/Aura means I can draw my deck to get one card and put the rest into ANY order (stacking the library, though unnecessary as I'll have acquired a kill condition), or Deep Analysis with flashback and/or Windfall to constantly cycle cards into my hand.

Ultimately, the Ghitu just provides me an option to prevent me from having to look that much for a kill con. Besides, it's fun to hold onto the Ghitu:

Me: "At the end of your turn, I'll Fire you for 42,603. Unless you can counter it, you're dead."
Opponent: "Why didn't you just do it last turn?"
M: "I wanted to you to think you still had time."
O: "Dick."
M: "Pretty much, yeah."

Your decks are all well thought out and a joy to look over. They contain cards that I never seen due to a Magic hiatus. The only suggestion I have would be exchange the Fyndhorn Elves for Priest of Titania's.
