Land destruction via Liquimetal Coating and Myr Landshaper. Win condition via Shivan Wumpus/Argothian Wurm & Smash to Smithereens direct damage. Liquimetal/Myr Landshaper + Splinter combo for super-effective, widespread & permanent basic land removal. Gorilla Shaman is a BEAST in this deck. He's a very fast 1-drop, and then 1 mana per destroyed land. And he can destroy multiple lands per turn since his ability does not require a tap (so long as you have more than 1 Liquimetal Coating/Myr Landshaper/Voltaic Key). Ancient Stirrings assures that I get either a Liquimetal or Landshaper early game. Can also help draw land if needed. After several playtests, I was encountering problems with sustaining the land destruction due to lack of drawing artifact destroy spells, so I added in some Isochron Scepters to try to combat this issue. So far, so good. I am considering switching out the last 2 Voltaic Keys for 2 more Isochrons, but not sure yet. The Voltaic Keys work to effectively clone the Liquimetals and Landshapers. It's no longer really a budget deck like it was before due to the inclusion of Ancient Tomb and Isochron Scepter. I had to add Ancient Tomb in an attempt to speed things up as much as possible. Turn 2 land destruction is necessary to make this deck viable against faster decks. Pyroclasm was also added in to counteract faster creature decks that are able to set up on turn 1/2/3 with weenies.

Haha, dude as soon as I saw your deck go up, it seems as if everyone posted a liquimental/splinter combo. but props, dedwards. that was an intense combo!
Thanks, but I can't take credit for the combo. A friend suggested it, I just added it to my old land destruction deck. It's still an awesome combo though.

It's an really awesome combo. Untapped potential with Roiling Terrain in your deck, though. Your deck also had more straight land destroy spells in it, which probably results in an all-around stronger deck. My deck relies almost completely on Liquimetal and Myr Landshaper. Look at it as paying homage. :)
rolling terrain wouldn't be helped by the splinter seeing as splinter removes them from the game
You're absolutely right. How did I miss that? There is still enough land-destroy combos in the deck that Roiling Terrain will sting the opponent. Good catch! I'll edit the description.
Well it is a fun deck to play. My variation is a blue green lolz.
So, after a few playtests, I was having trouble getting more than one artifact out on the battlefield. So, I took out a couple of destroy artifact spells and added in some voltaic keys so that if I do only get one out, I can use it twice. I also added some straight land destruction spells and creatures (Pillage and Orcish Settlers, respectively) to aid in the land destruction of the deck. The deck just straight up wasn't fast enough to do any major damage before my opponent stacked his battlefield. I'll continue to playtest this deck and update it accordingly on here. Thanks for the feedback, guys. More!
I've been tinkering with the deck, trying to speed up the destruction. I took out Hoard Smelter Dragon as it's just too slow to do any damage. Replaced it with Viridian Shaman and Manic Vandal and added back in Tanglewalker to do the dirty work with the smaller creatures. Also added Tel-Jilad Justice and lowered the number of Roiling Terrains in order to try to help the combos along.
So, after more research, looks like Gorilla Shaman is a pimp in this deck. 4x copies of Gorilla Shaman in, Viashino Heretic out.
How about Naturalize? It's cheap, works well with the concept, and is good removal just in case. Cool deck as is though.
Naturalize is the perfect choice for a Type 2 deck, but this is aimed at being a Legacy deck, meaning that there are spells at equal cost to Naturalize that have additional benefits, like Smash to Smithereens.
Thats a good point. I was thinking more along the lines that Naturalize can also target enchantments if need be, but taking another look at the deck I see that that's not as important as dealing damage in addition to destroying land. So, like I said, great deck! If you have some time I'd like your input on any of mine, mostly either of my red/black decks. It looks like you know what your doing when it comes to Legacy!
Well, in reality, with the use of Liquimetal Coating, ANY of my destroy artifact spells can target enchantments.
I'm having trouble deciding between 'Shattering Spree' and 'Smash to Smithereens'. On the one hand, 'Smithereens' has Instant speed along with the attached 3 damage which might be important in this deck with such limited damage potential. On the other hand 'Spree' has the potential for very fast and decisive land destruction that would debilitate the opponent, but relies on having multiple 'Coatings/Landshapers/Voltaic Keys' out. Any input?
I like this deck, dude. My only concern would be speed. I know this is supposed to be a budget deck, but since the rest of the deck is so cheap ($$$) you might consider spending some cash on some fetchlands to speed things up and start destroying lands as early as turn 2. In any competitive play, you'll need to start destroying your opponents lands no later than turn 2 or 3 in order to seriously slow them down. If you wait any longer than that, the opponent will already be set up enough to take you down.
I definitely understand that the basic lands in this deck are really kind of sucky. But, as you noticed, it is a budget deck. I'm not planning on going to any Grand Prix with this, just casual play amongst friends and maybe some FNM legacy matches. Thanks for the insights, though. Definitely a viable suggestion were I trying to be super competitive with this deck.
I can surely understand trying to build on a pocket. Not everyone can afford 4 copies of a $20 card, especially just for casual play/light tournament FNM play. As long as you're having fun. After all, it IS a game, haha. I think this is a killer budget deck, man. Very clever and viable. I like the addition of the Sculpting Steels. If anything, they act as two more Liquimetals. And I agree with your inclusion of Smash to Smithereens over Shattering Spree. If you think about it, you already have a Shattering Spree in your Gorilla Shamans, except you can keep using them turn after turn. This deck deserve more comment/likes.
I came across a couple of Sculpting Steels from a friend of mine, so I added them in and took out the Manic Vandals. In the event that my opponent manages to get out a stomper, the Sculpting Steel would counteract it and act as a stomper of my own when I destroy his stomper next turn. I also took out the Tanglewalkers again and threw in some Viridian Shamans to offset the loss of the Manic Vandals, and also to keep the green ratio in there.
Two words: Dingus Egg ;)
I was thinking about running something similar, with the win condition coming from Rolling Terrain, Dingus Egg, Temple Bell, and Black Vice. Love the Gorilla Shaman, used to run him all the time :) Never thought about bringing him back out to combo with Liquimetal, though.
Oh, nice! I love the effect, but I worry that it's a bit slow and casting it will totally consume my 4th turn... I need to figure out some sort of turn 1-or-2 mana ramp in order to start getting these artifacts out quickly so that I can start destroying lands on turn 2 or 3. If I were to cast Dingus Egg on turn 4, I can't destroy any lands that turn... A deck like this needs to keep the pressure on the opponent, foot on the throttle, so assure that they don't get a chance to set up.
Check out my deck i built, maybe people can add a few ideas :) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=125855
And why exactly did you spam every single deck on the Top Decks list? Seriously, dude.

Love the deck man, definitely a great combo. Props on this build...gonna use some of these ideas myself
Thanks, man. It's definitely a fun build. I haven't tested it extensively yet, so if you do end up building a deck like this be sure to post here to let me know how it does!

How about you not spam the top decks list and actually comment on people's decks before asking for feedback on your own. I don't mind direct links to your deck, but at least offer something worthwhile in return. Jeez. This top decks list is going to he'll fast between all the spammers and cheaters.

One word: Splinter. Against a mono-color, it's over. Liquidmetal their land, splinter it and poof! All their lands are gone.
Splinter is in there. I built this deck around that combo. Thanks for the comment!
Elephant Grass provides excellent protection for a control deck like this one. I can stall with Elephant Grass until I can get the Wumpus or Raging Ravine buffed up to do some significant damage. Also added 4x Rootbound Crag for some man versatility.
Took out Elephant Grass and Raging Ravine, and also 2x Voltaic Key and 2x Roiling Terrain. Added in: 3 Shivan Wumpus 3 Argothian Wurm 2 Isochron Scepter The Isochron Scepters should help to solve the problem I've had during playtests of having the Liquimetals out, but no artifact destroy spells in-hand.
I also just took out 4x Stone Rain in favor of 4x Ancient Stirrings. Should help seek out cards I need so that the deck doesn't stall without Liquimetal/Landshaper.
