Deck discussion for Too Many Soldiers

Looks good to me, y'know with Odric you can choose to assign no blockers so it effectively makes all your creatures unblockable, looks a little bit vunerable to clearance spells though, and big trample creatures.

I did know that but had completely overlooked its potency, hence Brave the Elements' presence largely for wide-scale unblockability vs most decks.

I can also see how this deck is quite vulnerable on defence, with a (hopefully) sizeable Crusader or Avenger as staple blocker that I'd rather have attacking. But then Intrepid Hero may be of some use

Looks nice, but I would make some changes. You should definetlly consider Field Marshals and Daru Warchiefs. Also 4 Mentors of the Meek are to much, when you manage to get one in play is just enough. Finally I prefer Benalish Hero much more than Odrics Crusader, for the extra added token.
If you are interested chek my own soldier deck, you migh get some ideas ^^

I consider a key part of this deck's capability to function on drawing as many cards as possible to churn out more creatures, so with this in mind I cannot afford to not have the Mentors, or have my soldiers enter the battlefield with a power greater than 2, hence my exclusion of too many lords. Whether this will prove effective enough we will see.

Daru Warchief is excellent but I cannot overcome the... antiquated aesthetics

Jajaja I love old cards, unlike you. Haven't you considered Benalish Hero instead of the Odric Crusader. For me its better, as with the suspend it costs 3, comes with haste and adds a soldier token.
If you have any comments on my own soldier deck, feel free to make them, we can get synergy among soldiers jajaj

Extra points from me just for using Charge. One of my favourite cards.

thanks I do love the idea and theme of it, but could do with a more reliable finisher...

Ancient Tomb would speed this deck up considerably. Swords to Plowshares or path to exile are way better than charge across the araba and you could go down to 3 on Mentor of the Meek and Militia's pride. I also have got to suggest Enlistment Officer cause hes one of the best soldiers.

whilst i agree this deck needs some mana ramp in order to accommodate all the tokens made, cards drawn, and new soldiers to cast, i cannot afford to lose the life from Ancient Tomb. Is there some other way?

its the best ramp for soldiers but you can also run Chrome Mox. Alternately Umezawa's Jitte is amazing in any creature aggro and the life gain can easily counter ancient tomb.

Ancient tomb is worth it IMO. Swinging on turn 3 with a Preeminent Captain 3/3 first strike, vigilance, Captain of the Watch 3/3 vigilance and 3 2/2 with vigilance is devastating and would only set you back 4 life. Imagine if your turn 1 was dropping a Jitte so that Preeminent Captain is also equipped. There is 4 life back and he is open to block.
