Deck Description

Just trying to combine some of the best Heroic synergy in standard into one deck.

Please critique.

The deck is now pretty much in its final form. The sideboard, however, is just some stuff I already have. You could do much better. Deicide, Fiendslayer Paladin, Ratchet Bomb, Pithing Needle... so many better options.

I've taken this to 2 very competitive FNMs. Over 30 people show up each week -- several of them have multiple PTQ Top 8s under their belt. I've gone 3-2 at both, and also defeated myself in one round of both. In particular I would've gone 2-1 against Brave Naya piloted by one of the top players in my area, except I forgot the lifegain trigger from Soldier of the Pantheon in the first game when he Boros Charmed me for the win. And I was working off of only 1 land, too! And it was a Mana Confluence! ERGH, that really stung.

So basically, I could've easily had a 4-1 finish at both FNMs. Not bad for a ~$90 deck whose most expensive cards are the lands.

How to Play

1. Play Heroes. Protect the heroes while also giving them counters. As much as possible, play your instants on the poponent's turn, making him/her wary of every single action.

2. Hidden Strings and Aqueous Form play very well together. It allows you to attack each turn with relative impunity, letting you scry AND cast the cipher copy. This causes opponents to roll their eyes and sigh in resignation quite often.

3. Try to get Ordeal of Thassa maxed out on the same turn you play it, getting you 2 cards during that turn's Declare Attackers step before blockers are declared.

(My favorite way is to play Ordeal, declare attack, respond to the Ordeal's +1/+1 trigger with Triton Tactics, untapping 2 dudes & giving them another counter. When the trigger resolves, he'll have 3 counters, & Ordeal gets sacced for 2 cards)

(Another favorite is Hidden Strings with 3 lands in play: Untap a land and a hero, cipher onto hero. Play Ordeal of Thassa & attack with hero.)

4. My favorite wincon is also the most straightforward: Aqueous Form on Fabled Hero.

5. DO NOT FORGET THE INCIDENTAL LIFE GAIN FROM SOLDIER OF THE PANTHEON'S TRIGGERED ABILITY.

Sideboarding:

Don't use mine. It's bad. Make a better one.

Deck discussion for Instant Heroes-Just Add Water

This heroic deck looks awesome! The Phytoburst and Hexproof additions are a great fit.

i like this. i try to have a white heroic deck ready to run for each game day, but this is much better to me. and sage is incredibly OP. i already took my infamous Gilder Bairn combo and made a deck that capitalizes off of him

@SeanDavies - I changed it up. It's W/U/g now, take a look.
@Drakeraenes - loving that Gilder Bairn combo. The same thing also works with Pili-Pala (infinite mana of any color) and Hateflayer (infinite damage, 5 at a time). Also, some other equipment has infinite combos with Pili-Pala, assuming Training Ground is in play.

The placeholders are gone now, if you'd like to see it in its correct form.

Update: This plays much smoother with Bioshifts in place of Warriors' Lesson. I am LOVING this deck, but it is no fun to play against. Thank goodness for patient friends who are willing to help playtest it.

i know the feeling man. i have a mono white hoplite deck that is aura heavy and it annoys my friends to death. i made it for the game day decks, but it works so good in regular play too

Taking out the Soldiers of the Pantheon. Not being able to target them with Bioshift has proven to be a significant handicap in more than a couple of games.

Made more changes. I'm calling the deck finished now:

- Bioshifts
- Battlewise Hoplites
- Triton Shorestalker
+ Heroes of Iroas
+ Aqueous Form
+ Mana Confluence
