This deck is part of a challenge a friend issued unto me, where I would make a commander deck with no card costing more than 50 cents.I have put a number of self-imposed restrictions on the deck as well:- No countermagic- No tutors- No Infinites- No Land Destruction or DiscardI will probably start making a series of these decks around this challenge. The end goal after playing a good number of games with this deck is giving a new player a usable deck for commander.
You want to abuse Jalira's polymorph ability as much as possible to take advantage of those sweet, sweet enter-the-battlefield triggers. The deck has a number of token generators, the two most notable being trading post and nuisance engine. Your primary route to victory will typically look like this:- Build a board state with token generators.- Take advantage of scry triggers when you can.- Use Jalira to thin deck and generate card advantage.- Use your suite of enchantments and instants to control the board and be politicalvia tapping/untapping or destroying enemy permanents/giving creatures evasion- When no one suspects it, turn all your creatures into a copy of stormtide leviathan or sharding sphinx and swing for the win.Now to explain the oddballs in the deck:Thassa's IreCan untap or tap target creature. Allows for multiple triggers off the commander or can deter a lethal attacker or potential blockerZephyr ChargeHilarious with Dismiss into Dream. Everyone wants to believe they can fly.Denizen of the DeepAllows me to retrigger all the creatures he's bounced to my hand.Cryptic Annelid.3 times the scry, 3 times the fun.Sunken HopeAllows for some disruption during a long board stall. This one should be used carefully.
