Ok so the main deck is what i would go into a match against someone that i had 0 clue what their deck consisted of. There is a lot of U/W control mill out there and this should throw some people for a loop in type two. Not saying this will win you any world championships but it should be good enough to face anything at your local FNM and its fun as hell. Anyways like i said before main deck build is if you know nothing about ur opponents deck. If you do know a lil something (which if ur like my local magic hut you will know at least SOMETHING about ur opponents deck) then you have some options. I usually run 1 of 3 builds with the sideboard and what not if it is going to be other than the main deck build. Scenario 1 R/B jund/burn w/e. I switch out the Doom Blades for Grasps of Darkness, which will kill just about anything ESPECIALLY if you get ur Echo mage leveled up which you should be protecting at all costs. I also switch out the Mana Leaks for Redirects...why mana leaks and not the cancels? Simple, most R/B decks will run really low costing instants and use them pretty early if they are frustrated (which this deck will do) to kill ur echo mage or ur hedron crab or even do dmg to ur precious planeswalkers, that being said they might be able to easily pay the 3 mana (especially late game) to try and desperatly kill u or your homies on the board. Also getting rid of cancels makes those late game plays by them with a fairly high cost of mana still possible with an extra 3 mana in their pool. Dont want that to happen. If its just the red deck i actually take out the dooms as well, and put in the redirects. But what happens when they cast a big creature to ruin ur day??? Well dont use ur Cancels or ur Mana leaks for smaller spells unless you absolutely have too, ur much better off redirecting them to something else and saving the hard counters for things that will drop bombs. Also Redirects are awesome for those nasty Red spells that "cant be countered" =) Scenario 2 U/W Control/Mill - this is probably more popular a build for mill in the current type 2 format. But with ur sideboard you have nothing to fear! First off i take out both Liliana Vess's as well as ur Keening Stones and ur Haunting echoes (noticing a pattern here) and put in 3 Leyline of the Void and 3 Memoricide. When you get ur first Memoricide call out Halimar Excavator, second one call out Jwari Shapeshifter and if you happen to get the third one call out Mimic Vat....just because i absolutely despise that card! After that you can happily watch as they kick and scream and say to urself "Im Awesome!" but say it to urself....saying in front of them will just be bad sportsmanship! Scenario 3 You face a deck that has a single card that says shuffle graveyard into deck, a mill decks killer. Ive built in 1 failsafe for this into the main deck build already with the Bojuka Bogs. Problem is there are only 4 of them. If you get lucky and have one out when that card you hate to see hits the graveyard, instantly sac ur bog on the stack and their GY goes by by. But im not one to rest on my hopes of drawing 1 of 4 lands to save the day in the next match. I instantly switch out all things dealing with the GY with 4 Leylines and 2 Memoricides. So to recap this scenario if they have a GY shuffler DROP 1. Keening stones...2. Haunting Echoes...3. Liliana Vess PUT IN 1. 4xLeyline of the Void.....2. 2xMemoricide. Anyways, i hope this was informative and if you can make this relatively cheap deck then play it! Its tons of fun. I havent won every time ive used it, but i have had a blast every time ive used it. Also if you have some constructive feedback omg i would love some PLEASE AND THANKYOU! ---Turtle
