This deck is designed to mana ramp into mid game creatures that continually stack counters onto each other, quickly getting out of control. In particular, the deck is positioned around Corpsejack Menace, which doubles the amount of counters place on any creature.v1.2: Replaced Ivy Lane with Putrefy for more removal and Deadbridge Goliath with Varolz to keep creatures useful, even after they have died.v1.1: Taking out Druids Deliverance and replacing it with Alpha Authority. Hoping this protects the creatures mid game from removal, although I lose a little wrecking power late game by losing the populate.*Note: Ignore the sideboard. While I'm building this deck and working on things, I just toss cards there that I was using the in the past or may use in the future.

Why not Kalonian Hydra or Primordial Hydra instead of Vastwood Hydra?

Kalonian Hydra I left out simply because I don't want to spend $15-$20 per card for it in the deck, and I ruled out a lot of cards like Vastwood Hydra because I built the deck to still be Standard after the rotations in September :)
I think Kalonia is up to $30 now haha. I lucked out and pulled one on my draft night.
You could always go for Champion of Lambholt too.
Same thing with Lambholdt, it cycles out in September :/ I'm still working on a few tweaks, I'm not sure I'm happy with the creature curve. Renegade Krasis and Vastwood Hydra are the two in particular that I'm trying to decide the value of.I'm open to suggestions :D haha
Yeah, I keep forgetting about the cycling thing haha. Alpha Authority may be helpful for protection. I enjoy that card a bit. Crowned Ceratok is alright. Give them trample I guess. Other than that there isn't much. At least until the next set comes out haha.
Yeah, I keep hoping they are going to start spoiling Theros, the block that is cycling out is so huge that it is tough conceptualizing a current standard deck.Thats true about Alpha Authority, I dont have much protection against bounce or kill spells and that would help a lot. At the very minimum, at least as a side board.
Yeah, I know they said Theros will not have any elves...or it's rumored. I'm really expecting Slivers.
With the whole gods and heroes theme it will be interesting. I'm kind of expecting huge creatures, but also some new type of abilities for bringing them down with smaller creatures.
I saw the prerelease shit. I think it would be cool to have a hero type. We will see if they even do anything with it haha.
You only have one use for your black mana. Either scrap the Corpsejack or give the deck more reason to have it. You can easily add cards like Lotleth Troll, Varolz, and Dreg Mangler to add more creatures, and Putrefy is an amazing removal card. Take out Ivy Lane Denizen to make room.I also do not recommend running four gates because it is really going to slow you down if you draw it mid to late game.
Yeah, that is one of the balances I was really trying to figure out. The Corpsejack needs to stay as it is what give the deck so much lethality. I looked into lotleth troll, and dreg mangler, but for what they did for the deck, the creatures i've included seemed to do more (not saying they will in the long run, because I'm worried to about the black mana being in there just for Corpsejack).Putrefy is something I would like to put in there though, and I can see replacing Ivy Lane with it to be totally worth it.
Replaced Ivy Lane with Putrefy, and Deadbridge Goliath with Varolz. That evens things out well, and the scavenge on Varolz keeps all my creatures useful even after their death.
