Deck Description

Its Mill what else can I say.

How to Play

It's pretty easy to play

Hedron Crab usually wont last more then 2 turns as he has a tendency to upset people

Archive Trap is great if you have it in your opening hand, however if you draw it late game it can win you the game.

Mind Funeral is the true kill card. If you are familiar with the Meta to your area you should be able to know the amount of lands in every deck here is a very basic breakdown of some decks and there land count

Pod (any Version): 24
American Geist: 23
Tron: 23
Twin: 24-26
Eggs: 17-20
Scapeshift: 25 (probably your best matchup other than Twin)
Affinity: 16-19
Jund: 24
Aura Hexproof: 20-22
Infect: 24

Now try not to overextend yourself or your hand and try to use your Remands only really to counter your big threats like Geist.

You will have a large problem against Modern Death and Taxes, Merfolk, and RDW.

Deck discussion for Mill Control

Impressive build you got there RAVENKLATH.

I especially like the fact that you play 25 lands, as that is the "perfect" number of lands to play in order to hardcast archive trap without drawing TOO much lands. I myself cut 1 down in order to play a 4-off each build, which does occasionally stop me from casting the trap at turn 5.

I'm a lot into the numbers of how much each card can mill, so I can tell you that mind funeral mills an average of 11.2 against someone with 22 lands.

I have considered making my own deck 3-colored for a long time, but I design things very slowly, so it would be nice to exchange info.

Go take a look at my page, especially at the deck named "Current modern mill"

I'd like to exchange "warstories" so we can compare what works and what does not work.

My build is tuned to have good chances against tron, especially after sideboarding, and I'm 1turn/spell from actually beating merfolk!

My main strategy has been to use so much mill that it cannot be countered, and mill fast enough that beatdown loses before it kills.

I'm pretty close to that goal.

Last modern tournament I played I simply ripped an aura deck appart, and in general I win half of the matches I play in.

I have originally played with leyline of the void in mainboard, but found that it's not a good choice in modern, so I substituted it with 4 suffer the past, as they can rip either tron or eggs appart with a wellplaced move, also they may save you against lingering souls if you have milled too fast and they have the mana to flashback the souls, or it may help you a little against burnlike decks which seems to be one of your weaknesses :)

I can also suggest mesmeric orb against deathandtaxes and merfolks. Mesmeric orb is better than most millers think it is, and contrary to the main beliefs it DOES NOT kill you if you play it. I've made tests with it, and it takes between 7-10 turns for you to die depending on the number of orbs you play, and assuming that you draw a land and tap all out EACH turn.

Good news RAVENKLATH:

I have recently "discovered" leyline of singularity while searching for 3 sideboard cards for my modern mill.

The leyline will be valuable in legacy as well, because it seriously slows down creaturedecks, and that is something I have been searching for in a long time, and it's not likely to be countered :)

In modern it allmost cripples token-decks, give egg-decks a hell when they play second sunrise, and elfcombo will also suffer a lot.

Depending on the meta you can switch between singularity and sanctuary, maybe have one set in sideboard and the other in main?

U like?

Also, if you want to play legacy sometime, use the leyline with karakas to have an uncounterable unsummon each turn.

Nice. You couldn't use Disenchant in modern, but Revoke Existence is as good unless if you are messing with their graveyard.

Yo there, just poping in to tell you that two mill-decks have won nice places in modern, meaning mill is now doable!
I've put the exact designs on my own "page", so go there and have a look if you wan't to try them out...
