Deck Description

Wee Dragonauts - Psychotic Fury deck. Use Electrolyze, Shock, and Volcanic Hammer in conjunction with Gelectrode to control the board until you play Wee Dragonauts. Don\'t forget to use Drift of Phantasms to tutor for cards as needed. Blaze acts as a secondary win condition. Don\'t be afraid to target your opponent with a few burn spells early as the combo usually goes off for around 14-16 damage on average. Think of this build as a budget template, with many ways to make it your own.

Deck discussion for Dragonaut Fury

Haha. That's great! You might also include a single copy of Spell Burst because of its buyback.

I couldn't rely on one copy of anything in this deck, even if I could replay it. This deck's mana base can't support a card like Spell Burst and it's buyback requirements. I have play tested Remand as a counterspell in this deck and it worked ok, but it just slowed things down too much. Your comment gave me a great idea though.

If you wanted to take this deck the Extended route, you could add cards with Flashback such as Lava Dart, Quiet Speculation, Seize the Day, Recoup, Reckless Charge, Volcanic Spray, Flaring Pain, and Flash of Defiance. Those were the ones that caught my eye anyway. With Dragonauts attacking, you could play Quiet Speculation for 3 Lava Darts and end the game on turn 4 with a Psychotic Fury in hand. Thanks for the inspiration cogito.

An obvious non budget choice is to replace blaze for demon fire, and perhaps some of the grapeshot storm card (cant remember the name off hand), since you are planning on using many spells during the turn, you can add a tap 2 burn spell that goes up in damage with the dragonauts for an explosive turn. It might need to tweak the deck more in the storm direction, but that wont hurt dragonauts any.

Adding a Storm theme to the deck would force you to remove far too many of the key pieces that make the deck work well. Also, Storm or Replicate copies do not trigger the Dragonauts ability so there's no reason to include them. You would just end up with a deck with two half-assed ways to win instead of one solid, consistent win condition.

Here is a thought...Consider think twice instead of playing them out right you can play them at your opponents end of turn phase that will trigger the wee's because the effect won't end until you get to your end phase. That way you get two extra cards and a clean untap for 5 mana. Delay might be an interesting alternative to remand and Adding aeon chronicler may help in a slow game if for nothing else than to gain card advantage.

Compulsive research is probably one of the best draw spells for blue right now and relentless assault is a much better choice than seize the day.
