Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

How to Play

How to play it? Hmmm... I just suggest to just Crank Duskmantle Guildmage's Mind! :D

Deck discussion for Budget Infinite Mill

Shriekhorn might be a better pick than tome scour, especially since you may time it :D
I've also run extensive tests with tomescour and shriekhorn, and on an average shriekhorn mills a fraction more than tome scour
(Meaning that on an average it manages to mill 6 cards a lot more than it mills 4)

I know it is a budget but Bloodchief Ascension will trigger the combo just fine

I love the deck idea. It looks fun to play!

Instead of Enclave Cryptologist, would Merfolk Looter be a better choice?

A glorious mill deck I must say! I see that you too are a fan of control decks with obscure finishers. I actually own a similar deck in real life, but have no friends to play it with, truly a shame. However I did place second in a modern event at my local game store, now that was enjoyable. For anyone looking to upgrade this deck I recommend using Hedron Crab, it is a cheap blocker in the earlygame and passively mills your opponent quite well.

I hope you enjoyed my comment, remember to have a wonderful day.

A concise example of how one can begin w/ a budget deck, then work to upgrade it as their means/opportunities allow.

I second the hedron crab as an excellent option. I also suggest running x4 Jace's Phantasm, possibly instead of Enclave Cryptologist.

Tidehollow Strix instead of the snakes or the rats to block flyers.

0

Baleful Strix would be a bit better. Flying, Deathtouch and draw a card! or you can add them both and remove the rats and snakes ;)

But Baleful Strix is not Modern if I am not mistaken.

Not if you fight against an infinite life deck ;)

Law of equivalent exchange or maybe just cause and effect. 1card milled = 1 life lost. In a regular size deck, 53 cards (assuming no mulligan) vs 20 life.

I would recommend one or two countersqualls for this deck as a replacement for some of the mana leaks, since it can aalso trigger the combo.

Very nice deck. But, is it actually infinite mill? Just instant death no? =)
Of course, if they had 100 life, then yeah, infinite mill heheh. Nice combo.

Built this deck yesterday and I have to say I quiet enjoyed it. I couldn't get all the cards because my card shop didn't have them. I added Scalpelexis, Brain Freeze, Traumatize, Jace's Erasure, and some salt marshes.

Greatest thing in this deck is it's low converted mana cost. You've added 5-turn drops, so you ruined it a bit :P

True, but I needed some flying and the look on my opponent's face was priceless when she was down to one card in her library. I could only find one Mindcrank and no Duskmantle Guildmage so I made due with what I had on hand. It works wonderfully for the people I'm using it against.

Atari, if you like the mill, but wanted low cmc flying you should check out Jace's Phantasm.

Love this deck looks insanely fun. ever thought about splashing some red in for a few burns, to really set mind crank off. Or do you think that would screw with the synergy of this deck. J/C +1 from this guy.

What about gut shot? Can set off your infinite combo for only 2 life. Also can enable it by t4 if everything pans out right.

And Apostle's Blessing in sb, it will protect the deathtouchers, guildmage and crank.

I'm in love with this deck... such a simple infinite combo, all cards are 1 or 2 drops, it's just so simple but so effective! Definite +1 from me.

Would adding something like Ultimate Price help? I understand adding the deathtouch creatures is a piece of the combo, but alot of the time your opponent will simply do nothing once they notice the combo, or on round 2 after it has already been unleashed. Ulitmate price, Hero's Downfall, or any of the reveal's hand and make them discard spells would be great for this, if atleast in sideboard

not sure if price is necessary since it may take away too much. possibly vapor snag since it can help trigger the combo, and return a creature to their hand, essentially doing the same general idea as price.

Instead of think twice maybe use telling time?

0
Posted 29 September 2015 at 22:48

A speed version of this idea was my first real deck. It's more about disruption by discarding and removal while having many cmc=2 tutors. Maybe you can get some ideas?!

http://www.mtgvault.com/germynator/decks/mindcrank-guildmage/

You have a different style, but I suggest taking out the Tome Scour. It does nothing but mill, which you do with the infinite combo.
If you are looking for something to start the loop, anything that does damage or sends a card to the graveyard (from anywhere) will do.
Therefore removal, discard or unblockable damage are probably better options!?

0

Think Twice is really budget compared to other card draws, but it basically is a draw 2 for cmc=5. There are plenty of better card draw options in u/b if you don't want to go the transmute route.
(e.g. Night's Whisper, Pilfered Plans, Concentrate, ...)

I have a very similar deck in real life, jaces phantasm, weight of precinct 6, Dimir Infiltrator is HUGE! dimir can help you get those mind cranks and guild mage out soooo much faster! you should consider adding dimir!

Take out 1 of each of your instant cards listed and replace them with 3 Hidden Strings.

I don't like Hidden Strings, and my preference is Hands of Binding to deal with unwanted creatures.
