My take on a recent standard deck that quickly captured my attention. Stormchaser Mage was one of my most anticipated cards from Oath and I couldn't wait to play it. The second I spotted this archetype on mtgtop8 I just had to try it out myself.I don't personally own a playset of Jaces, so I started to experiment on cards to use as a replacement. Jeskai Elder has been doing a great job filling his shoes. While Jace offers immense utility, both looting and setting up potential wins with his -3, Jeskai Elder is an offensive body with an optional loot trigger that can still filter draws and fuel your Cruises.
Play men, go ham when it's safe. Go wide when you need to. The haste is strong with this one.A great curve tends to be Swiftspear, Stormchaser, Abbot, and if you're lucky a 1-drop noncreature spell off the top with Abbot. Or a land and a spell from your hand. There are a lot of lines the deck can take, and the deck tends to have a surprising amount of versatility and ways around most strategies. Decks that lack removal and can race this deck often get crushed quickly. However, removal heavy decks can still be easy to beat out depending on how fast you can damage them. Boardwipes however, are the best thing against the deck. Painful Truths and Disdainful Strokes come in against control. Stroke to counter wipes, and Truths as a psuedo 5th Cruise to help fill your hand up again. Dispels also come in against some control decks that have more instant speed answers.Other options are a bit more simple. Impulse against other aggro, Cut against decks with big boys you can't burn, Boiling Earth against tokens and wide strategies. Fall of the Titans can come in against most midrange decks as you can typically 2-for-one them in the mid to late game. Duress is actually proving to not be quite as necessary of a piece of hate. I've been considering using Despise instead.

I like the deck, pretty easy to understand and works well. But i don't really see the need of treasure cruise who is a long time card effect, u don't have anything to make u'r graveyard full except jeksai elder. So i think that u can drop the treasure cruise for one more dispel and two more wild slash. Then i don't know what would be u'r last card but u don't need that much draw or replace it with a card who makes u draw a bit faster. Anyway the deck is real neat i think i'll take u some cards for my last prowess deck :3

Absolutely not. The grave fills super fast between the fetch lands and all the spells I cast. And it's extremely important to constantly fuel my hand. And keep in mind, I don't always need to delve down to one. 2 or 3 mana for a draw three is still pretty good. But thanks! It's been doing really well for me. Both FNMs I played it at I 4-0'd.
I didn't saw the use of the fetch lands at first that's smart !Yeah that's true but it's a bit expensive for the deck i still think.NO PROBLEM ! K nice well good luck with those, what's FNMs exactly ?
Trust me, after the amount of games I've played Cruise is not too expensive.FNM is short for Friday Night Magic. It's a weekly event game stores host. The store I play at does standard tournaments as one of the formats, so far I've 4-0'd 3 of them with this deck and also went 3-1 at gameday.
Ok :3Okok, Nice !
