Deck Description

The traditional Imperial Painter deck is mono red, but the Recruit also can snag an amazing card known as Grand Architect. The Imperial fetches Architect too, giving the card more use if we already have a painter. The +1/+1 to all our creatures makes the Painter conveniently out of bolt range.

Deck discussion for UR Imperial Painter

Excellent use of Grand Architect. I was hoping someone would pick up on Painters + Architect = assload of mana.

Oh, and you really only need 3 counterbalance. Their effect is not cumulative, and 3 will still allow you to snag one the vast majority of the time.

Thanks! He's one of the cards I feel is just waiting for his deck. Good call on cb too

Why bother with the Servant when you can just use Pili-Pala; now you have infinite mana of any color.

How would you go about getting a profile picture?

About time I see Grand Architect being used well, and extremely so at that.

Your recent painter decks make me believe that blue is now indeed the colour of the deck type, and so I must make a new one eventually... I'm thinking W/U, CoF anybody?

And I'm just lazy sure, I might get one soon though :P

I thought about WU, but what does W have to offer that U doesn't, besides ET? The key to a good painter deck is that either a) you need to be a copy of my blitz painter deck, or b) you need to have a LOT of synergy and resilience. Dont really see W providing much of that, but please, surprise me!

Well remember, the best kept secret in magic is that White is actually the evil mana color, despite its cuddly façade.

Actually, that was spoiled when the NP Promo card came out. Have you ever seen a creepier lookin' priest?

Also, can you say Soul Sisters? Or maybe even Clerics?

I'm not building it for competitive play Joe, I want it for amusement.

And yeah, I think everybody wants that card....

Made some upgrades based on play testing. This deck isn't really competitive per say, but it's definitely a great casual deck and a lot of fun to pilot.

I like this deck a lot! Nice job and pretty original. You have made brilliant use of Grand Architect.

Does running Counterbalance in this deck help out a lot? I may consider it in my painter/grindstone deck. Also I am debating on Grand Architect now.

Every think about running Goblin Welder, Spellskite or Academy Ruins for extra protection?

Would any of you fine people mind to take a look at my painter/grindstone deck and help it get better?

Good luck with your deck!

The use of CB was, well, me getting creative (shocker, ikr?). I like it, as this build is slower than mono-red painter. It is also much more resilient however.

I think Welder is unnessissary if you have the CB package... I mean, your not going to kill my Painter... REB takes care of that. And CB protects the actual casting (and spot removal too I guess)

Welcome back to having your old stuff randomly appear on front page man! It's been a while.

Also, why is Painter making such a surge on this site nowadays? Next thing I know I'll be seeing more Affinity decks pop up online again... Please don't put that evil on me Ricky Bobby

Pretty much anything cool out of Portal costs an arm and a leg, you have to shell out about half a grand just to buy one Imperial Seal.

I have an obsession with painter. Love this deck. I also love that I would have to take out a second mortgage to get this deck. haha

Speaking of an obsession, check out my new Sorin influenced deck! The sideboard still needs some help.
