Deck Description

If I was to actually play modern instead of just building decks, this is what I would play. Landfall is just so powerful and the deck's curve is just so sexy.

I've been toying with Hero of Oxid Ridge and Ranger of Eos, but I think building it like this with such a depressed curve is best.

Nice deck joe. I've never played Boros landfall before, and I just noticed that the fetches fuel Grim Lavamancer as well. Pretty sweet.

Thanks! Any suggestions or ideas?

I haven't got much advice, its a solid deck as is. Maybe a Mirran Crusader in the sideboard?

Or Flame Slash to take out Hero of Bladehold and walls?

I don't think Flameslash is that great. I have Path, and I think the next best spell for that would be dismember, not flameslash, but thanks for the suggestion

Gotta love Boros. I've never liked Figure of Destiny to be honest. The dude just chucks so much unwanted mana burden into your deck...If I were you I would replace them with Signal Pests. You're attacking with an army, the buff from Battlecry will be powerful. On that same note, I would at least look at Rally the Peasants. That thing is basically custom-made for Boros =]

Damn, I knew there was a card I was forgetting. surewhynot beat me to it, but Rally the Peasants is a really good card, consider it.

That's an interesting thought. Rally is good, though it's 3 cost makes me pause. Maybe -4 Figure -1 Grim, +2 Rally, +3 Pest?

That sounds great actually =]

And this... This ladies and gentlemen is why I still play a pair of Trinket Mages, and a pair of Chailces in the main list when I play Modern.

I might not like the format(unneccesary bannings made the decision for what I play in it, I don't like that), but this I can dig.

Agreed on litterally everything. Modern kinda sucks, but this deck is sooo good ^_^

It takes everything I hate about Zoo(other than 'Goyf), and it accelerates it pretty much. I can't say I'm not impressed with how powerful this is Joe, it's surprising that it's so close to just being old extended with the selections you've made, and yet it beats so much face.

Mhmmm. Don't forget Control barely exists

That's true... That's one of the main reasons I like Overextended better right now, I play SlaverPost, and various nitpicky control variants :D

not sure about this, but having more fetches than basics seems odd. also i'd go for the hero of oxid ridges. unless you're planning on winning turn 3 every game, its the shit. seems like you could take out a few spells

Lol actuallt the 12 fetches and 8 lands are perfect. The deck wins because of the fetches. Without it land fall can't be abused and the deck loses it's early face rape. Amazing deck. I'm not to crazy about gut shot and for searing blaze id probably go 2/ Signal pest is kinda weak for think of this. Turn 1 signal....turn 2.........turn 2......fml....lol. You lose a turn for damage. 0/1 just could hold you back a turn and if you pull it turn 3 or later its like summon sickness for the loss and you get no benefit that turn. A possible better turn 1 might be something like Elite Vanguard Or maybe up the chandra and grim by one each and add some more burn to the deck like magma jet.....an amazing burn that can trully change the game for you. Hope this helps a bit.

Yea, it took me about one game to realize I don't want pest. It's basically only good as a T2 drop after having a T1 drop :/

I didn't have gut shot at first, but there are so many x/1 dudes in the format that you gotta kill. It's huge to drop Lynx or Grim and then kill the opp's t2 Confidant, or t1 delver, or whatever.

Vanguard might be interesting, I'll try it out. Thanks!

just saying, war cry would be pretty interesting in this deck. Maybe, just maybe, goblin wardriver? :)

Oh, and maybe brimstone volley but the 3 mana cost hurts a bit.

i like what you have going here. another card to consider instead of elite vanguard is hada freeblade. boros is best known for being what i call 'top heavy', as in it has a lot of focus on power, and much less on toughness. that aspect is why boros is so hard-hitting, but it gives it its weakness too. hada freeblade will come into play effectively as a 1/2, which is a 'bottom heavy' version of elite vanguard. that little bit of early game staying power could make a large difference, and i have seen this strategy work in the past. in addition, hada freeblade does have the 'ally power', and only stands to become stronger. :) happy stomping! :D

Ehhh... I don't really like Hada if I'm not playing other Allies. I actually think I'm going to go back to Figure. He is quite good really.

Hellrider is beast...just discovered his power and not only 100 percent better the hero of oxid ridge but possibly fast and strong enough for Boros.....Love this card.

totally think you should have kept figure of destiny... especially if the game goes longer then you want your going to have excess mana with the way your curve is at least you wont be dead in the water i dont playe alot of modern dont really have the funds for it but id say this looks pretty solid
