I really like your deck, I just have a few points I would try.1) Why are you not the moltonsteel dragon combo? 2) Why are you not doing more mana ramp? Since you have access to all shocks, you can play all the good land ramp.3) I've been finding out that more often then not, living death isn't worth the card slot. 4) why so little board wipes?5) I would play dragon mage. It can refill your hand if your low on them.6) I love Temur Ascendancy. it works for everything in the deck.I'm going to be making changes to my build but I'd like your thoughts on my deck.http://www.mtgvault.com/gfreeman/decks/dragons-commander/

Too many dragons, too few utility. See, Scion searches for dragons and copies them, you don't really need so many since you should win with 2 or 3 activations. Yes, you need a toolbox of dragons but you don't need a two dozen variations of fat. Some of them don't even work with Scion, like the CIP of Dragonlord Atarka. What Scion does, however, is filling your graveyard with fatties, so why don't you run reanimation? Something like Dreams of the Dead would be a killer in this (very underrated card). But over staples like Beacon of Unrest would do, too. And you could use creatures like Volrath's Shapeshifter also works (and would make good use of Dragons you drew in the early phases of the game!)Zirilan of the Claw is painfully missing.
I like your thoughts but I think that your missing a few things. Zirilan costs to much mana and doesn't protect itself and has to have haste for him to work well (which makes it cost even more). Scion is a glass cannon. If you don't protect him and the assets that you've built you will lose. Control/combo decks will always have the edge if you expect him to stay on the field all the time. If you are using scions ability to through guys in the grave you are already winning. Its when he isn't in play do you have problems.I do agree he needs something better to help the early game.
When I played a Scion deck, I ran about a dozen or so dragons (& a mana-base that let me hard-cast them efficiently if I drew them), ran control & reanimation, & abused the fact that I could play in all 5C. :D (Given that an opponent may either steal your Commander or make you shuffle it into your library, I tried to build a deck that could function well w/o it, needs be.) Would like to see Mana-Charged Dragon in here; the Moltensteel + Skithiryx combo is a classic. Good to see dragons, good to see 5C EDH, good luck w/ your deck!
But that's what I was referring to when I said "too many dragons, too few utility". Yes, Scion is a glass cannon but for the reasons you mentioned you shouldn't play Scion aggressively. Like Umoonpuca said, instead you should abuse the fact that you have access to all colors and play controllish for a long time until you are ready to go (and then it's more like playing combo). The glass cannon aspect is also why I suggested running some reanimation. Volrath's Shapeshifter for instance still works if your Scion got exiled or shuffled into your library (or any of the other horrible things that players keep in their hands to deal with commanders).
Thanks for the advice. Can you guys go to my list and tell me what you think?http://www.mtgvault.com/gfreeman/decks/dragons-commander/
I play short game with scion, normally win turn 7 maybe 8 if its 1v1. here is how i one turn combo kill(note scion has been on field for one turn already): Search for Atarka, world render declare atks for double strike; if no blocks are declared Search for hellkite overlord, pump +1/+0; if no response on combat damage step Search for Skithiryx for game! although i think i will be adding moltensteel to give an extra option for pumping.here is my version of scion for edh http://www.mtgvault.com/demanslayermcg/decks/scion-of-urdragon-edh/
You are assuming a lot of things, most notably that the Scion survives a full turn, but also no blockers and no response to you searching the next piece. Of course, if you are playing against a goldfish, this will work. Like any other random combonation of cards if you have 7-8 turns where your opponent doesn't do anything.
you are correct but in the meta i play for edh, most are slow decks that wont truely do anything till turn 10-15. i did have a match last night where i had to play defensive since he dealt 16 commander damage in to turns with a 3/3 commander, had wait till almost turn 12 to kill since he had fog bank and i had to get more white mana to deal with it. was screwed with mana early game. which is why i have alternate win cons (late game) incase they have some way to deal with scion.
