My take on vintage 'Glue'. This is, quite possibly one of the most infuriating decks to play against. It is deceptively passive, and grinds the game to a lethargic rate. When I play in vintage tournaments this is the deck I currently use. So far I have seen a good helping of success.

I found it!"Audacter calumniare, semper aliquid haeret."Also I hate this deck so much, but you knew that already.

"Slander boldly, something might stick."I know you do, and I am quite fine with that.
This is one card away from being the version I've been using since Thalia got printed. I took out a Thorn, same as you, but also the third copy of Stony Silence. Six Null Rods has been doing quite adequately, and with the increased number of sphere effects makes up for it.The biggest differences in our lists would probably be in our sideboards.2 Jester's Cap(I find if you're running Workshop without at least two in the board, you're running it wrong)2 Metalworker2 Slash Panther3 Phyrexian Revoker3 Faerie Macabre3 Relic of Progenitus
I have found that with decks such as this, most of the diversity does, in fact, come in the form of the sideboard. I must admit, my fancy is tickled as to the usefulness of Slash Panther. Care to explain?
Probably due to how much the design has been optimized over time. And the benefit of Slash Panther is that I have an odd luck to find other Glue Stax players, and being able to quickly apply pressure makes it a bit less awkward. I've been strongly considering switching the numbers of it and Phyrexian Revoker really.
I suppose that makes sense. Mirror matches of Glue are truly mind numbing, so putting some pressure on the opponent early could help.
If you think about it, this is one of the most optimized designs currently in MtG; everything has a purpose, and each choice has been weighed by each pilot to the point of exhaustion. The only deck I know of that was quite so close to being built by automation is Ravager Affinity. And I wouldn't even describe it as mind numbing, I generally reserve that for something mindlessly cathartic, like pulling weeds. I'd more say that it's the most dreadfully boring matchup in the game short of Lands v. Lands.
Trying to say which is more boring, Lands vs. Lands or Glue vs. Glue, is like trying to compare filing one's teeth down to the gums or having one's fingernails pulled off. Granted, I play both Glue and Lands, so what does that make me?
A fair point. And if it's any consolation, I play both as well. If I must be painfully boring, at least I know there's another who is in the same boat.
I think the word you two are looking for is "Griefer" =P
mishras workshop is nasty, I'm not greedy , i only want two.
Would one be willing to say that we're professionals?
Professional griefers?
It's a song. I don't care much for the bulk of the vocals, but the second half of the chorus is quite good. "Just give me a life to bleed. Another world outside that's full of all the awful things that I made"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJelsOHe6xk
OOOOOOOOH!Yeah I know that song, just didn't make the connection. So yes, professional griefers haha =]
How do you win?
By slowing the game to a grinding lethargy, and then attacking with Lodestone Golem. There are some peculiar addenda to that, but for the most part that is how it wins.
Addenda
Plural of addendum.
Okay sounds like it's really painful to play against ha but I really like it
you win by selling your cards for a profit, and resisting the urge to buy more.
I will admit, I have sold this deck (or at least a variant of it) in the past to buy my nephew his first car.
But now you're doing the Scrooge McDuck dive into your hoard of gold, so you don't need to sell this deck anymore =P(you earned it though)
once you have it, you no longer want it. i tried that once, all the magic disappeared. : (

this has all kinds of ouch in it. i would most likely rage quit if i had to play this. props man! +1 like from me :D
for all the high dollar cards involved, this deck seems kinda lackluster. either as the player or the opponent.
If you find Glue Stax lackluster, I honestly believe you're doing it wrong.
guess id have to see it in action.
That's usually the case. Just like people doubt DDFT in Legacy until they see it played decently, it's something that generally can only be fully appreciated when you've seen or played it.
