i didnt really find the llanowar elves needed as long as i have wirewood channelers and elvish guidance, and i have many cheap creatures to hold me off till i get them, such as rhys, joraga, and treetop scout. so that helps me out with the whole mana situation that i have my channeler and guidance.

oh, and the wirewood channelers and elvish guidance helps with the mana to power up joraga and to kick the strength of tajurus =P
