This is a requested deck for the Obscure Card Challange:http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/obscure-card-challenge-occ/Stormtide asked me to build a deck around Abyssal Persecutor. Well, that isn't THAT challenging but there were no reaquests for a long time, so, Persecutor I go!As long as Abyssal Persecutor is in the house, you can't win and the opponent can't lose ... fortunately he is a flying 6/6 trampler :) So, the obvious way to build a deck with him would be one where I play aggressively, utilizing this undercosted fatty, and when I am about to win, I have to somehow get rid of him. Since he is black, that means sacrificing him to something. This "something" is mainly Rite of Consumption, dealing another 6 damage, so the game might end right then and there. To go alongside with this base there are 6 more creatures that cost just 4 mana but are 6/6. 4 Dark Rituals and Mind Stones assure that you can play them turn 2 repectively 3. Xathrid Demon basically gives you a Rite of Consumption ever turn and can beat himself. Then there is a subtheme. I added Victimize as another spell that needs creature sacrifices, Putrid Imps and Rotting Rats let you discard your demons AND provide sacrifice material at the same time so you can maximize Victimze.
Go straight ahead with Putrid Imps and Rotting Rats (discarding a fatty for the latter). You may want to keep one of them as sacrifice material if you hold a Victimize, but generally I'd say don't be too shy to use them as chump blockers. If you have Dark Ritual, you can play a 6/6 on turn 2. If you don't, play a Mind Stone instead and play that 6/6 on turn 3. Then go beating and maybe play more fat as you see fit. When the opponent is in reach, kill via Rite of Consumption. Some single card strategies:Phyrexian Soulgorger:Is mainly there to be sacrificed to RoC right away but might as well get in and swing immediately (if you have Lightning Greaves) or next turn (you should be able to afford to pay the upkeep once).Rotting Rats:You can get the Rats back via unearth in a pinch if you need sac material. It's also a good idea to do so when your hand is empty.Mind Stone:Played turn 2 it allows a 6/6 fatty the following turn. However, the reason I used this instead of something like Charcoal Diamond is that you sac them later to draw cards in the case the deck begins to stall.Desecration Demon:Pretty powerful on itself. If the opponent opts to sacrifice a creature, that isn't bad either. Better yet, in this deck, the added +1/+1 counter makes the next RoC bigger, too!

Pretty cool deck! I always found black sacrifice to be a really flavorful type of deck, although i never played one myself. Initially I was curious as to how the deck would safeguard itself if you had the Abyssal persecutor out while you have your opponent ready to die, but you will die too if you would remove the persecutor demon. I noticed though that you have some countermeasures to things like this, such as the lightning greaves and the lifegain perks behind some of your sacrificial abilities. This is very good.As for the Putrid Imp, I don't particularly see his merit besides his ability to chump block and be fodder. I mean yeah he can gain flying, but I wouldn't think that you want to discard a card from your hand. He can also be a 2/2 if you are not planning to do chump blocking, but all in all I have some suggestions, hope they do you good.-Blood Pet: mana pump/ fodder-Sleeper Agent: give an annoying creature to your opponents that will gradually kill them and may force them to spend removal on their own side of the board.-Pharika's Chosen: I always find that death touch tends to deter some fatty attacks, so blocking with this is pretty fine, although it doesn't have the flying option of the Imp. Again can serve as fodder-Shadow Alley Denizen: Fodder/Intimidate can be given to yo fatty's if you have any out.-Vebulid: A self fattening fodder that can make good use of Xathrid Demon's ability or RoC if you have little else to use it on. Can serve as a one time chump blocker or attacker (As most chump blockers are one timers b/c they are usually crushed :P)All in all, nice one :)

Edit: Noticed how the discard ability may help you, Especially since you can bring them back with victimize. Discarding creatures doesn't count as sacrificing them does it?I guess you can discard the above suggestions. Sorry, I just missed that detail the first time around
Yeah, the main reason for the Imp is to get some fat into the grave early to be able to use Victimize early on. But I like your suggestions anyway, this is the line of casual thinking I appreciate, I am especially happy to see you suggesting Vebuild. That's the kind of card I like to give a shot in casual decks and I am always seeking for opportunities to squeeze them in :)
Thanks, I am glad that my suggestions have some value in them :P
I know it's probably not that hard of a challenge, but I just haven't seen a deck with him. I'll look to see if I can find more card challanges
