This is part of the Obscure Card Challange:http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/obscure-card-challenge-occ/The request was to make an Auratog deck, if possible, one that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. That's why I don't run Serra's Sanctums. The main reason this is about 120 dollars now is the Argothian Enchantress which can easily be replaced with Enchantress's Presence.Anyway, it's an easy concept, lots of cheap enchantments that either draw you cards or come back when sacrificed. Besides Auratog there is Yavimaya Enchantress to attack with. Rancor is the single most important enchantment in this because it a) comes back for a single green mana, so you can basically pump the Auratog +2/+2 for each green mana you have, but it also grants trample which both Auratog and Enchantress lack.
Spreading Seas can be used to slow down the opponent.Keep in mind that Auratog needs trample the turn it attacks and that you can't play Rancor during combat. So you must sacrifice and replay it before you declare an attack but you need to end the cycle with Rancor on Auratog, not in your hand (unless you also have Primal Rage, of course).Argothian Enchantress actually has Shroud, so, no, you can't play auras on her! Don't hesitate to sacrifice Hatching Plans to Auratog even if you don't plan to attack this turn, drawing 3 cards will turbo-boost you.

Kor Spiritdancer is a card I'd definitely use if I where to build an Auratog deck. That said, nice build.

Not with my selection of enchantments. I only have 6 Auras total that I could attach to the Spiritdancer and only 10 of my 27 enchantments are actually auras.
True. The direction I would take Auratog is similar to the Hexproof Aura decks seen in Modern.
Yes but this is casual and I'd rather set my Moxes on fire than build a deck that is similar to something standardized in any format :)
Ah, Rancor!I did not think about that! Very nice!
Auratog + Rancor is the only reason I'm hunting down Auratogs (don't have funds to buy them)
Puschkin doesn't like infinite mana, I don't think...but if you have a way to pay for that extra forest, over and over, Rancor could make Auratog ungodly! And the trample, doesn't hurt, of course!Trample rocks because it makes sure the damage will go through.
BTW, if an opponent has Swamps, Spreading Algae works as well as Rancor. Rancor is still much better because of the trample of course but having 8 cards that recycle for a single mana definately helps.
I hadn't thought of Spreading with Auratog. Makes a very nice sideboard option too.
Just realized that Betrayal can't be played on your own dudes, so I replaced it with Aqueous Form, which should probably have been in the deck in the first place. This also lessens the pressure to give the 'tog trample.
If you added Sage of Hours to this, you could use rancor/auratog to pump sage full of +1/+1 counters, then attack with the auratog, then repeat infinitely :D
Hm, actually I only need 5 counters for a single extra turn. But what to cut?
Id say Mystic remora would be the best choice to remove, or possibley spreading seas. The remora wont help much against creature heavy decks, which could be big problem to this deck.Probably depends on how many Sage of hours you want to add
I just doesn't want to lower the enchantment count too much. Mystic Remora could go vs creature heavy environments which mine isn't - but I made this deck for the OCC, not for me, so you are probably right.
