No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

Welcome. This is an attempt to revitalize this site. The origin and the WHY is explained here:
http://www.mtgvault.com/dracostorm/decks/is-mtgvault-dead/
http://www.mtgvault.com/dracostorm/decks/rebuilding-the-vault-community/
But if you read this, chances are those "deck"threads have directed you here. This is about the HOW. It works like this:

This is a project to organize us helping each other out with comments and deck critiques. If you are interested in participating, write a message in this thread and use take this small survey:

Name: [user/nick name]
Formats: [state the formats you are playing most]
Expertise: [give a SHORT description of what you could give advice on, for example "casual decks, mostly tribal decks" or "competitive Modern decks, especially of the control variant" or "I like to maximize odd deck concepts"

I will list all ACTIVE members in the "How to Play" section, MOST/RECENT ACTIVE ON TOP. Members agree to keep this "deck" subscribed at all times and check it regularily. They can post here to ask for help/critique on their decks, dropping the link and a brief explanation of the deck and what to do in the comment section. However, BEFORE asking for help they should help out others first - either by:
A) commenting on one of the linked decks that asked for help
B) by checking out the member list and picking a random of their decks
C) do a deck search for our Tag "VaultHelp"
D) Check the "NEW" and "UNLOVED" section of Vault.
In any case, stay away from the "Hot" page - any deck that made it there had enough attention!

That way everybody participating should get what he needs (and deserves), at least in theory. If you are new to the game or otherwise think you are not competent enough to comment on other decks, you can still flag your decks with the "VaultHelp" tag in the hope that someone will find it. However, your chances will be smaller.

Some other things:
* Please REMOVE the "VaultHelp" tag once you got what you wanted!
* I try to clean this "deck"thread once in a while, deleting older posts.

DedWards
Formats: MODERN and STANDARD
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/dedwards
Expertise: While I play mostly Modern and Standard, I believe I'm versed enough in MTG rules to help with most things. I do, however, have a tendency towards Tribal and combo, despite Midrange being my preferred style of play.

SENRESS
http://www.mtgvault.com/senress/

Formats: VINTAGE, LEGACY, MODERN
Modes: CASUAL, MULTIPLAYER, PENTAGRAM
Expertise/Emphasis: Sophisticated (mostly unusual) casual decks, when commenting I always try to keep decks in theme. I could help on competitive decks in older formats but I am a bit rusty and I give a rat's ass about Standard.

NECRUMLSICE

DJSITH
http://www.mtgvault.com/djsith/
Formats: CASUAL, MODERN, & VINTAGE
Expertise: Modern & Theme deck builds, as well as odd deck concepts. G/Bl, R/G, and R/Bu are my favorites to work with, been mixing those colors since the Alpha/Beta days. Not by any means an M:TG expert, but I can hold my own and able to provide council when asked.

MAGICVIKING
http://www.mtgvault.com/MAGICVIKING
Formats: MODERN, STANDARD at FNM level, PAUPER

FoolishDeckbuilder
URL http://www.mtgvault.com/foolishdeckbuilder
Formats: STANDARD and EDH mainly, but a bit of everything.
Expertise and/or emphasis: Making standard decks that aren't top tier but can still hold their own. I don't have much experience or knowledge of trivia, but I can still give input on most decks.

TheNightbringer
MODERN/CASUAL
I love the art of brewing and finding forgotten synergies. I post a single oddball modern brew a week to revitalize the forgotten decks.

Formats: PAUPER, STANDARD PAUPER, NON-RARE STANDARD, MODERN (not as much as I'd like) all kinds of CASUAL MODERN, STANDARD (not too much though)

Expertise: Modern decks of varying play types, odd bits and pieces (mostly pretty common cards) to add to decks.
TSHUFELT
http://www.mtgvault.com/TSHUFELT/
Formats: CASUAL player, looking to get into competitive MODERN.
Expertise: Thinking outside of the box, ridiculous combos, conceptualizing, control decks, breaking MTG. I have a deck that can deal hundreds of trillions, one that can pump out the entire deck in one turn, and a consistent turn-2/3 win that's modern- legal, nuff said.

Akureyi
Formats: Modern, Standard, Commander, Casual
Expertise: General deck building tips

ThumperHill
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/thumperhill
Formats: STANDARD, KITCHEN TABLE
Expertise: I'm a fair deck builder, but by no means the best. I often go through every card that fits my criteria and build a deck, chipping away the cards that don't work until I'm down to 60. While an encyclopedic database of all things Magic I am not, I'll still do my best to give any advice I can, and I love to be proven wrong. I learn more that way. :-)

Dracostorm
http://www.mtgvault.com/dracostorm/
Formats: Basically all because I am a judge and I have to know the cards and interactions. I generally stay away from Vintage and Budget brews. Also LIMITED IS MY FAVORITE! DRAFTING AND SEALED TIPS AND STUFF HERE.
I am mostly in the competetive scene so if you've got questions about modern, standard, legacy, maybe even pauper. I am your man. I do consider myself to be a very good limited player, both in sealed and draft. So if you have questions on those as well, i'm here.

Expertise: Modern decks, standard decks, janky casual decks are what I play most. But mostly janky casual decks. And green decks.

mtgben898
Format: standard, vintage
Expertise: Mostly in vintage decks i'm a good strategist I can find cards for any deck, recently trying to get into standard.

TrackingDevice
URL http://www.mtgvault.com/trackingdevice/
Formats: MODERN
Expertise/Emphasis: I usually like helping with decks I am drawn into but think could use improving, I am not like a pro level player but I believe I do have some knowledge under my belt. I don't know vintage or legacy, and I don't keep up on standard but I am relearning this new meta.

Mixelleleigh
http://www.mtgvault.com/mixelleleigh/
Formats: STANDARD and EDH
I absolutely love Standard and competing in tournaments at my lgs. Just started playing Commander.

dk510
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/dk510
Formats: Mostly playing LEGACY
Expertise: I'm not a competitive player AT ALL. Strictly kitchen table. I'm here because I find MTG fascinating and this is a great place to find ideas for casual/budget decks. I guess if anything I'm pretty good at putting a deck together for under $30.

JerichoPumpkin
Formats: VINTAGE, LEGACY
URL http://www.mtgvault.com/jerichopumpkin
Modes: CASUAL (1v1 or 2v2, not 2HG)
EXPERTISE: tribal, oldies (someone said Megrim or Winter Orb?) and funny, unexpected decks (just like Puschkin's awesome decks, only worse). I only hope that all the rust and the fact that I have lost all my playmates to adulthood will not be an hindrance. I've got tons of experience and beatings over the years, so I should be fine!

Vinny_Paige
http://www.mtgvault.com/vinnypaige/
Formats: Standard, EDH
Expertise: I Love strange brews that attack the meta from a different angle. I can help make a <= tier2 deck more competitive while sticking to a fun theme in any format however I focus on Standard and EDH.

shiwei87tan

Expertise: Over 20 years experience playing casual multiplayer games with different groups of people over the years.

Willisson7
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/willisson7/
Formats: EDH, Competitive/Casual MODERN
Expertise: Not an expert per se, but have been playing casual Magic since Alara. I'm good at creating synergy in a deck, and helping with mana curves. My favorite thing is to create decks that tell stories. You get a point for flavor and 2 points if you can make it competitive. Also Fairly decent at hate building.

Juribaz/Juri
http://www.mtgvault.com/juribaz/
Formats: CASUAL, looking to get into more PAUPER and MODERN
Expertise: I've been a casual player for around 15 years now. I just recently began worrying about format and would like to get into modern and standard. Mostly interested in budget midrange/combo decks, I generally play for fun rather than to win. If you have a creative combo-ey deck I would love to give some feedback.

Ph3nax
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/ph3nax/
Formats: Standard and a little bit of legacy and EDH
Expertise: I love any decks that are either aggro, control, or burn

XERAS
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/xeras
Formats: MODERN, LEGACY, occasionally STANDARD
Expertise: Resource denial. Making bad decks semi competitive, also designing decks that specifically win against local metas.
anarchrist91
Formats: any and all, I don't play competitive I just play for fun
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/anarchrist91/
Expertise: I wouldn't say I'm an expert in anything. However, I am very good at improving upon already made decks and ideas. I like to add my own spin to things and I'm a library of card names... my memory sucks at everything else besides video games and Magic. Thanks brain... could have gifted me great math skills but nope, Magic it is.

SCHEIER
http://www.mtgvault.com/SCHEIER/
Formats: STANDARD, MODERN, EDH, PAUPER, and CASUAL
Expertise: Been playing since '95, off and on. Just starting to get into Standard play and FNM.

BENIWIWI
URL: http://www.mtgvault.com/beniwiwi/
Formats: CASUAL/VINTAGE and some EDH
Expertise: Casual Decks, theme decks, old cards (started in 94) and to steal something from the OP because it fits " to maximize odd deck concepts"

Jayva1989
STANDARD
Just like to brew better with casual, looking to get more competitive

4thGeneration
Formats: Standard, Modern, Casual, and Commander(EDH)
Expertise: I'm best at decks that revolve around gaining life and draining your opponents life. I even built a deck capable of getting several million points of life in a single game. Unfortunately, I'm still relatively new to MtG so most of the cards I know by heart are from Return to Ravnica til now. But I'm learning of better cards from as far back as Lorwyn.

thussprachal
Formats: STANDARD
Expertise: Making unconventional, usually cheap/themed decks suited well for both competitive and kitchen table.

WAR
http://www.mtgvault.com/warispeace/
Formats: MODERN, STANDARD (some)
Expertise: G & W. Love experimenting with alternative cards in established decks. Building decent decks for my wife. Attempting to build around aesthetic continuity.

GangstaGeekXXX
URL http://www.mtgvault.com/gangstageekxxx/
Formats: STANDARD, MODERN, EDH
Expertise: Standard: first and foremost, I mostly build anti meta decks but I do ALOT of deck building. Primarily W/B and Red
Modern: I would consider myself very familiar with RG Tron and similar variants. Trying to make Soul Sisters and UB Mill Tier 1. I would love to somehow make Vampire/Faerie/Spirits into tribal decks. I will find a way to make Phyrexian Obliterator playable.

CuttyFlam
Formats: I mostly make CASUAL and CASUAL MODERN
Expertise: I wouldn't call it my expertise but I try and make decks that have unexpected win conditions and I like to make creative decks.

ktrojan
http://www.mtgvault.com/ktrojan/
Formats: MODERN, STANDARD, EDH
Expertise: I play a lot of different deck types and always try to put my own little twist on them. You'll usually see me playing a deck that can utilize all its resources. I like to brew new ideas as well as just try to find decks that are truly fun to play.

Daggerback5423
url: http://www.mtgvault.com/daggerback5423/
Formats: STANDARD. Im trying to make a small splash in modern. Ive been playing mtg since the prerelease of ROE. Ive been on the vault for about 6 years on today. I dont play competitively formally but I play online where it is more competitive than not. I read and watch tons of the big name mtg users. I attempt at EDH but im a bit bad at it.

Deck discussion for MTGVault: The Gathering

Hello.

http://www.mtgvault.com/cookemup78/
Format: Standard
Interests: I like to build ultra budget standard decks since I am just getting back into Magic and I am on a slim budget myself. Most of the decks I build are for fun FNM someone can easily build and play with friends.

I don't have a lot of comments yet but I will do what I can, when I can. I will check the VaultHelp more now that I know its there.

Welcome LordCinder!

Traffic is on an all-time low. Unfortunately combo is my least favourite play style. But if you like you could have a look at one of the few combo decks I made:
http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/maralen-lockdown/
http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/reaplacement-killers/
http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/blast-from-the-past-30/

But those are decks I consider finished. If you like to tinker a bit instead, here is one of my projects I am currently working on, it's not published yet:
http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/perplexing-the-crowd/
Still in brainstorming phase. I would be glad if you had some ideas to supplement the main combos. It's a casual deck for multiplayer, though.

If you want deck reviews in return, drop a link.

Casual, beginner Standard, beginner EDH

I'm trying to break into standard via budget build and I am always look for critiques on my decks.
i have a play group for casual and EDH but we all are budget standard player so when i think a deck is good for FNM it turns out that the decks is awful (yet fun because i usually get the "WTF are you playing?" reaction).

I'm not looking to win an FNM just a couple matches.

Also if anyone has advice on how to deal with standard meta that plays their deck without social interactions with their opponent that would be great. the last FNM i played a kid that had turn 4 Electrostatic Pummeler and won but didn't even seem happy that he won since my deck was "inferior". It was bad enough that i flat out asked if he would rather have me concede then play the next game in the match since he didn't seem to want an opponent and rather goldfish his deck.

Any advise critiques would be very helpful. PS i love this site and NOT only because it's the only MTG website that my work hasn't blocked... hahahahaha!

MtgVault is nowhere near "fixed," but I think it's getting better. I'm not sure if this is true for other people, but my decks have been starting to get quite a few comments, and I make sure to comment on other peoples' decks. A lot of the Hot decks have moved down, and they are starting to get replaced by "decks" like these, which will hopefully get other people to comment.

Alright, I'm not really sure how this works. I'm fairly active, and would be happy to comment, like, make suggestions on other peoples' decks. Now, is that the reason why I would become a member? And then if I said that my specialty is control (which it isn't), then would people comment on this "deck" specifically asking for Zoakselot to comment on their control decks? Or do I go looking for control decks with the VaultHelp tag on it? And, also, do I get anything out of it? Not that I would have to (I just want to help the Vault community) I was just asking.

Well, this project failed, there wasn't any action for a long time and I had bother the members to post. Only the same half a dozen good souls kept on going. You can try again, of course. I'll try to support.

About your questions:
It is supposed to work like this: You drop your request for deckhelp here, at the same time you pick someone else to help. You can do so by checking out other requests, do a decksearch for the "VaultHelp" tag or browsing the member list. And when browsing the memberlist, the speciality info tells you what these guys are into, so you can pick someone who most likely has similar decks. Of course you could also use that info to directly call someone specifically for help.
Note, though, that this was inactive for about half a year, so focus on the new members. I'll update the list of active/new members.

Alright, cool. thanks for making this, even though it didn't work as well as you had hoped. Overrall, though, I thin MTGVault is better than it was at the time that you had made this. It's not like where it was, where only a couple "hot" decks got attention. However the new system doesn't weed out the poorly made decks as well (you know the decks with no tags, description, how to play, etc.) All the decks seem to just get maybe a like, or a comment, but then get buried among all the other decks. Decks can't really get to the point where they are getting actually helpful comments. I'm currently working on a Naya Realm Razer deck, tring to get helpful feedback from other people, but there's not really any way to put it out there any better than just into the unloed section. Even though I try to comment on other people's decks, I dont think anybody thinks "Oh, someone commented on my deck, maybe I should check out one of theirs. Not sure if any of the previous sentences made sense, as I haven't had much sleep, but the point is I'd be willing to help other people by commenting on their decks. I guess I'll do the member thing:

Zoakselot
Currently playing not very competetive modern, but mostly casual.
Can help mostly with casual decks that aren't necessarily made to win, but that are about a specific cool/fun combo or way to play. For example an Infect deck that doesn't revolve round buffs.

Keep up trying to save MTGVault. You have my full support.

"Even though I try to comment on other people's decks, I dont think anybody thinks "Oh, someone commented on my deck, maybe I should check out one of theirs. "
Well, within the Vault help they SHOULD think this! You aren't supposed to review random decks from outsiders. But to make sure, you could always add a line to your (initial) comments on other people's decks, like a signature, something like
"You got this review because you are a member of VaultHelp. Please consider to help out others, too". Something like that. I did that in the past sometimes, partially to increase activity, partially to weed out unresponsive members.

Great. Will do :) You said "You aren't supposed to review random decks from outsiders." Does this mean I should be looking up VaultHelp, or waiting for people to specifically post their deck on this "deck?" Do I write VaultHelp on my decks?

So, here I am asking for assistance for the first time in a long time. Basically, I just had an idea to make a seemingly useless Kamigawa card, Mana Seism, actually useful. Problem is, I can't decide on a way to finish the game.

Nobody else had commented for a while, so I decided to. I'm working on a Naya deck titled Raze the Roof. It uses Realm Razer to destroy all the lands, then normal land destruction spells to keep your opponent from regaining their mana base. It also uses a lot of Ramp so that when Razer enters, you aren't affect you as much as your opponent, and hopefully will have enough mana to continue casting spells. I'm trying to make it more competetive for Modern (even though I know that it won't be as good as most other decks. Not something I'd take to any type of extreme tournament, but hopefully it could be good enough to win at least a few games) but I'm having trouble doing so while still keeping the theme. No budget, naya, modern. Here's the link: http://www.mtgvault.com/zoakselot/decks/raze-the-roof/

Just so you "humans" know I'm in a magic slump. This is why I'm not posting.

I don't feel inspired to be able to recommend any hidden gems and anybody can show people the staples for a format, so l'm not commenting.

I refuse to publish a new deck unless it means my colour wheel stays in balance, and G/W is not inspiring, even with dinosaurs coming out. I could post both my ideas for the tweaks to the Kess prebuild that I'm testing and the naya SUDDENLY GEARHULKS deck, but they are both junk and probably have been done over and over, and that leaves red one deck up on all the other colours, and that just leaves me to try and come up with something original for Atraxa, HA! Just the thought of that is funny.
Also personal stuff eating my time.

Also the fact that Northy decided to move to the woods. T-T #infinatesadness.meme

Just out of curiosity, is anyone thinking standard dinosaurs could legitimately be a thing? Because 1 mana cost reduction... wow.

0
Posted 14 September 2017 at 11:46

yeah. I think it could be a thing. Especially a Dino enrage tribal deck, since you can then use cards that do damage to creatures(like shock and other low-damaging effects), to trigger enrage yourself, but you can also block with creatures to trigger enrage, which gives you a lot of buffs.

1

Yeah, the one that has "enrage: rampant growth" looks pretty good for that type of deck. And then Ripjaw Raptor...

So the deck Is 100% a thing, the only problem is id say not to invest in the deck till the new meta is set up. The printing of opt, and the other good tempo and blue cards, along with torrential gearhulk is still a thing.

This means Control/Tempo might be a little too strong in the current meta for a deck that takes 2-3 turns of just playing out to the board.
