too many people see mimic vat as a combo-enabler. to me, it's just one of the best value cards in the game. the fact that it gives haste really opens up a whole world of previously "bad creatures" that have awesome effects. steel overseer anyone? BOOYAH. it gives value to every creature you and your opponents play. it's like an investment. you don't NEED to combo off some crazy effect. you just wait until your opponent kills one of your dudes. oh look it's back again at instant speed with haste for three mana. boom! so for me, the "gives haste" clause instantly said INFECT in my brain. the only thing better than hasted infect creatures is infect and first strike (seriously it's nuts. it catches people out BIG TIME). important note: double strike gives first strike. so your 1/1 ichorclaw myr (assault strobed) could (if blocked) win and survive combat with a 5/5... AWESOME. so here's a deck that will wreck. behold: vat-value best cards to 'vat? - metalworker - steel overseer - ichorclaw myr (they just won't want to block it) - putrefax (assault strobe flat out wins you the game)

Assault Strobed Ichorclaw Myr won't survive against Baneslayer since they both deal first strike damage, Baneslayer deals 5 to Ichorclaw, Ichor deals 3 to Bane, bane becomes 2/2 but won't die.

i've edited the deck description to follow your comment =). thanks!
ah-hah... yeah i forgot baneslayer had first strike as well. haha oh well. it's still insane =)
doing nasty things with corpse cur and mimic vat is seriously fun. also, shuko is one of the best "goes-with-infect" cards i've seen so far. 0 to equip for a de-facto +2/+0 bonus is hard to turn down. slap it on a putrefax every turn and you're away.
come on guys. has nobody got any constructive criticism or card suggestions for this deck? it's ripe for stuff from the new set. go on, suggest something!
