Deck Description

ok so mk.II is a huge improvement over the last deck.

this deck follows the red deck mantra of cards = damage. every opponent's card discarded is 2 (or more!) damage.

when a single megrim/caress is in play:
memory jar = average 14 damage
perplex = average 8 damage
wheel and deal = average 8 damage (but sets your opponent up with a full hand to be lost through windfall or perplex)
hymn to tourach = 4 damage
windfall = average 8 damage

of course! if you play a wheel and deal, and then a windfall straight after, that's on average 24 damage. two spells for a kill is not bad.

and of course, if you have two megrim/caress in play, you only have to make your opponent discard FIVE CARDS. seriously it's so easy to win with this deck it's amazing.

and of course, every card discarded is a spell that your opponent can't play. bonus.

I'm thinking Howling Mine / Font of Mythos would help too.

Then add some Darkness for a nifty variation on Turbofog!

there's a couple of problems with your suggestions:

1) while the howling mine serves to fill my opponent's hand (something my other spells can already do), it also gives them more opportunities to kill me than i would like, and it takes valuable space out of my deck for cards that actually kill my opponent. in other words it's a dead card that gives my opponent more advantage than me. in another deck, sure. but this one runs wheel and deal/memory jar.

2) having 4 copies of black "fog" won't make my deck a turbofog deck. the likelihood is i'll probably draw one..... and if i'm going to draw one copy of something, i'd rather it be something that permanently deals with the creatures on the board. i.e. a board wipe spell (which i already have here)..... darkness just puts off the inevitable, so it's a bad choice for this deck, i'm sorry.

in another deck your suggestions would probably be great, but i'm not running the standard discard suite.

Awesome deck.. Only thing i can recommend is a favourite card of mine, Recoil.. Take care of anything on the board and make them discard.. Use it early on their lands lands to slow them.. Dream salvage if you need the card advantage maybe?

excellent suggestions. i'll tinker with what i've got and come up with something, because both of those cards seem like they fit.

i dropped my card drawing tech in favour of recoil.

we'll see how that goes. if it doesn't work out, i'll put the drawing tech back in.

dream salvage is too situational. most of my discard spells will have me tapping out for the turn.

Tome Scour be useful here considering how cheap it is. Drop Recall for Call to Mind so you can double up on Windfall and Wheel and Deal.

i've not got recall in my deck =P. i've got recoil, though. haha

tome scour is handy in a mill deck but it would drastically reduce the amount of damage i could do from discard. also by putting it in i'd have to take something else out. probably something that has a core purpose in the deck rather than just being a neat thing to play for one mana.

either recall/call to mind seemed like a reasonable idea when i was making the deck, but it occurred to me that when you draw one of those spells from your library, you would much rather be actually drawing a win card or something which puts pressure on your opponent. so i dropped the idea of having a recall effect in the deck in favour of consistently drawing cards which screw up my opponent.

every mana spent has to count towards fucking with my opponent's hand and life total somehow. spending 3 (or more) mana just to get a spell back when i can just draw new ones from the library seems like a bad deal. that's three mana i could be using to empty his/her hand and deal maybe 10 damage or more.

1 of each of megrim wheel/deal and curess and you win just like that, wow.

the only problem i can see is if its a real fast deck with life gain, and then its a bad dash race.

against lifegain, my advantage is i'm also screwing with their hand. it's difficult for them to play their main threats and lifegain spells when i'm emptying their hand and they have to topdeck.

Looking good with the added recoils =D Only other thing i can suggest is maybe extirpate? If your coming up against a deck with a heavily reliant win condition, after they get hit with hymn to tourach, extirpate their key cards.. You could switch the mana leaks to countersqualls, considering the spells you will be countering are non-creature, Because once any creature hits the board theyre instantly dealth with by damnation/recoil.. The added life loss from countersquall could swing things in your favour maybe.. Memory jar is iffy, its turn 6 by the time its activated, Maybe add some mana accel in it's place or urza's guilt.. Other cards you could consider are infest, or copy enchantment.. I'l post a link to my discard, probably not as good as this, it's more legacy format but works a lot the same =) Also, could you have a browse at my decks and suggest some changes? Im Focussing on the B U W mill & control one atm, cheers

How about Anvil of Bogardan ? A permanent both player drawer - discarder ...! Nice deck btw , i like the alteration of a discard deck that it offers.
