Deck Description

i been messing with agent of the fates for a standard deck alot lately, i wanna just crush creature based decks and be able to keep my agent alive. i have a mono-black deck around him build right now thats just doing decent, i have a list for a black and white one, but i think blue may be the other color ill need, i dont have this deck build, nor have i played with it in any way, but this list just seems powerful enough to do something.

hidden strings is a very possible card. infact, hidden strings is in the deck, you mean i can double trigger agent of the fates? beautiful.

most likely going to take scourge mark out for agoraphobia thanks to another badass deck i saw that brought that card into my attention!

Deck discussion for blue/black heroic standard

How do you double trigger the agent with Hidden strings? Agent's ability reads "When ever targeted by a spell you control"
And hidden strings can target one creature and then ANOTHER, so you can't target the agent twice.

Cypher is an ability on the spell, so putting the cypher EFFECT on agent won't trigger him either. Or have I missed something? :)

ahh youre right about hidden strings, but then again, i think it will still be strong with pretty much running 8 agents with artisian in the deck. but youre right, thats a bummer lol. i knew cipher wouldnt trigger, but i was definately hoping i could do it on the same creature 2 times, but even still, playing that card for free and doing other things with it seems powerful.

like, attack with agent, get in, cast the copy, untap it for practically vigilance + sac a creature.

agoraphobia is going in my deck forsure, that shit is absolutely nasty. gift of immortality would be nasty too, like damn. im having a rough time in blue/back defending him from a supreme virdict, maybe white is the way to go because of rootborn defenses.

Yeah Rootborn helps. If you go Esper you can have Mizzium skin and Triton tactics as well :)

Jestrix if you read Hidden Strings carefully you will notice that when you Cipher Hidden Strings on to a creature you control, as long as you do damage to a player you may "CAST" a copy of the encoded card without paying it's mana cost.

Thus this means that say the player with the agent of fates casts hidden strings and the defending players has two blockers up. The player playing hidden Strings can "Untap" his agent of fates to trigger his heroic, then the player will have to choose to sacrifice one of his blocking creatures, then the player playing Hidden Strings will tap the ONLY other blocking creature to allow his Agent of Fates Ciphered with Hidden String to swing in for free. Once combat damage is dealt to the player, Hidden Strings Cipher ability kicks in and then the player playing Hidden Strings can then "CAST" hidden strings again with no mana cost. So in this since he would "Untap" his agent of fates, to thus remove the last blocker, and then if he wants Untap a mana of his choice since all creatures are off the board, and thus maybe freeing up mana to play something else on the board if needed.

I actually run hidden strings in my White/Blue Heroic deck and get some nasty combos on either Fabled Hero or Battlewise Hoppolite.
