Deck Description

Standard, USA control...

How to Play

Your usual control deck... ...I love Quicken with Verdict & Anger... ...AEtherling survives all wipes...

I use extra finishers in the sideboard, because I have to be ready for Slaughter Games & decks with a strong set of removal... ...other similar cards to Slaughter Games can be countered...

Turn // Burn can deal with gods, not just temporarly, like Detention Sphere...

AEtherize is really fine for extra board-control, when I'm up against a really fast & effective aggro deck... ...it slowes down everything, eleminates Master of Wave's tokens & forces the opponent to build up his/her devotion once again, so this card really gives you time to set up your finishing move...

Nice deck maybe you can add Warleader to have many turns in FFA (Free For All) xD

hmmm...very nice deck. why not add one more medomai so you can have a higher chance of drawing him. Also, daxos is nice to steal cards from opponents and use their own cards against them and gain life at the same time ha

Thanx for your suggestions! :)

Daxos is not fitting here because of the wipes I use... ...I use a 2nd Medomai in the sides... ...I consider using both mainboard, but so far the deck looks best the way it is now... :)

Though I know somehow it could become better.......

Supreme verdict does kill storm breath dragon. Verdict is a global spell and goes through everything besides indestructibly

So protection does mean that it can't be targeted? I thought it nullifies the effect, no matter it's a targeting, or global.......

The effects of protection are often described using the mnemonic DEBT. The permanent or player with protection can't be:

Damaged by sources with the given quality (all such damage is prevented)
Enchanted or equipped by permanents with the given quality
Blocked by creatures with the given quality (if it's a creature)
Targeted by spells of the given quality, or abilities with sources of the given quality.

Protection is commonly misunderstood as being complete exemption from effects created by cards with the quality being protected from, which would allow, for example, a creature with protection from white to survive the effect of Wrath of God. This is not the case, however, as anything other than the specific things mentioned above is not hampered by protection in any way. Thus, as Wrath of God does not attempt to damage or target the creature, it will still be destroyed.

Also gisela isn't standard.

I was an idiot thinking, that Gisela was standard... ...she has that Ravnica feeling....... :)

I now understand about the protection stuff, but doesn't the rule say, that effects that say destroy does not destroy it?? ...I mean, if it was exile all creatires, or buttom of library, than ok, but a global spell's effect is still an effect & according to the rule, any effect that sayes destroy won't destroy the permenent that has protection against that source.......

Please, reply, because I'm highly curious about this!..

You're right, KJ! I just might mixed the 2 stuff togeather... :)

I really got out of practice... ...I haven't been here for like half a year & I haven't been to FNM for 4-5 months...

I remember you by the way... ...you are usually quite active on this site & helpful as I remember...

Thanks for clearing this misunderstanding out for me...

Check out my reacent decks, if you'd like!.. :)

Well, welcome back. I do enjoy your decks. Glad I could be of help. What do you think of a combo deck using J,MA-7 with stormbreath monstrous? (Prototype deck here... http://www.mtgvault.com/kjsj3/decks/rug-combo-control/). I don't think it will work well in a tournament setting yet, and I could use the input.

Perhaps the only deck I like quicken in With 7 wraths it gets a lot of extra mileage
I like assemble the legion over medomi simply because all the dead removal people have game 1 hits medomi and so really your just making otherwise dead cards useful it's also true with storm breath but being pro white he avoids azorius charm and d-sphere.
This deck looks far more balanced and more competitive the. Your esper deck.
I would put someway to deal with creatures that can't be burned in te sideboard. Turn// burn kills anything no questions asked so I would probably put that in over auriela's fury or niv-mizzet as I don't think they are amazing cards.

Thanks! :)

Turn//Burn is really an awesome sideboard card... ...I just won't take out any of the extra finishers, like Mizzet, 'cuz I have to be prepared for Slaughter Games... ...that 1 card itselfe changes the whole concept of all my control decks's sideboards.......

I'll use Turn/Burn instead of Aurelia's Fury, as you suggested...

Really don't like Quicken as I believe it does next to nothing. Maybe it is necessary here because your only running 24 land in control and therefore need all the draw you can get to guarantee all of your land drops. However I think it's effect means nothing except making your sorcery spells more expensive having to wait 1.5 extra turns to make a difference.

Magma Jet, kills next to nothing and even less if you consider the cards you would rather kill other ways or will just trick you out of the kill. It's only effective as 2 to the face which still means nothing in control really. Your more or less playing it for the scry effect which again I see it's importance in a control deck with a low land count.

4 Sphinx's Revelations, personally I don't think you need it as a 4 of but more as a 3 of adding in a 2nd maybe even a 3rd Jace, Architect of Though given you cut anything else. 4 isn't bad, actually at the SCG Open in Indianapolis the top esper decks were running it as a 4 of.

I also think you'd be well off putting more spot removal in main with detention sphere and or turn // burn. Especially as each can deal with gods which may be important, but even still they can deal with many other threats just as effectively.

Wear // tear could come in hand dealing with god weapons, detention spheres and or pithing needles from opponents. You can fit at least 1 in if you removed Isperia which I don't think is that great of a creature and entirely unnecessary to run in the deck.

Also lastly I think Elspeth should be mainboard in place of either the Angel of Serenity or in place of 1 of the Stormbreath Dragons.

Other than a handful of small "issues" if you can really call them that I think the deck looks fairly solid and fun. Not quite my style and I'm lacking far too much of the deck to consider putting it together myself for FNM but best of luck to you with it anyways.

Snakerunners... ...your comments contain the most information & effort, so I honestly thank you for that! :)

I use Quicken, 'cuz there is nothing to replace it & in mid/late-game, it's awesome with both Verdict & Anger, even with Mortars... ...it's important at times to destroy the creature(s) your opponent cast in his/her fallowing turn, right after you's cast a wipe at your turn, so Quicken is really an underestimated card... ...I also like it as an early-game draw, even if it's just a 1 mana draw a card, 'cuz it still shortens the deck & takes me closer to have everything I need within the game.......

Magma Jet is effective against aggro decks, for example, it can kill off Voice of Resurgence immediately, if it won't get stronger...

I want to use 2 Jace & I was thinking about dropping a Revelation, 'cuz with 24 lands, it might be better...

I consider using Detention Sphere in the main deck, 'cuz my opponent won't use any enchantment removal at the 1st game(if not Abrupt Decay), but he/she will sideboard some, so I'd toke it out before game-2... ...you're right, I have to have cards also in the main deck that could deal with gods...

I'll be thinking on how to insert Elspeth to the main deck... :)

Thanks again!
