Deck discussion for Evolution Fanatic

How about Counterflux, izzet charm or turn//burn they are all awesome izzet cards to support you before you play Bobby 'punch you in the face'

Counterflux isn't really good... ...Izzet Charm has lost lots of it's value since rotation... ...I like the idea of Turn // Burn for the sideboard... ...in the place of Plasm Capture & 1 Mortars may be.......

I'm testing the deck & it can assign 8-13 damage on turn-6 with Clan Defiance, or just play Borborygmos & discard a lot of lands as you play it, may be kill your opponent before you could attack with him... :) ...with the Fanatic, I can easily set up the opponent on dieing from 3-4 land-shots(1-2 if I could attack with Borborygmos)...

fair enough, you may want counterflux in sideboard just for Jund and U/W? Where do you test by the way?

This looks pretty good... Seems very land based...
Add 2 more lands?

Thanks!

I don't really need more lands since I have 11 mana dorks :) ...this is an RUG deck that fuses the type of both the Bant-Walker deck & the Gruul Devotion-ramp deck... ...& it really works amazingly well!.. :) ...plus, I have Urban Evolution & Kiora + the overall drawpower in this deck fixes all possible problems.......

It's been beating versions of Mono-B/R/U decks, Esper control, R/B/W midrange & control, Boros aggro & burn-aggro, Izzet burn, Gruul Devotion-ramp & Gruul-monsters, Bant fog-control, USA control, Selesnya aggro, Jund midrange, Naya midrange, Junk midrange & control, Rakdos aggro, burn & control, Grixis control, Azorius control & Boros(white devotion) aggro...

Tough it had a hard time against both Gruul decks & also my Mono-Red wich has 3 Burning Earth in it's sideboard... ...The Jund midrange & Bant-fog decks were good matchups as well...

What about niv-mizzet? That 5/5 pinging card drawing monster could be quite the house i this deck. And with the ramp you'll get him out earlier.

Not a bad idea, but what could I possibly take out?

Well I don't really like Borborygmos but that's more of a personal choice. Also, 3 Ral's seem a tad excessive as you already have 4 follower's for untapping things. I mean Ral is nice but I'm sure you'll still get the same quality of use out of him with only two copies.

So perhaps: -2 Borborygmos +2 Niv-Mizzet
Or: -1 Ral -1 Borborygmos +2 Nivs

untapping things is for mana most of the time & it can surely boost Clan Defiance & help me cast Borborygmos easily... ...Borborygmos usually ends the game after attacking once, sometimes no attack at all, only play him, discard 2-4 land & win, because if Defiance didn't end the game before that, it sure have weakened the opponent...

Niv is also doing massive damage & also let me draw cards, but he needs at least 1 turn & that's too much sometimes... ...besides, dealing massive damage with Borborigmos doesn't cause me to use up my entyre turn, like with Niv...

Very original! However, I'm not seeing how you hope to keep up with mono blue or black. Don't get the wrong idea, I believe you when you said it was competitive but it just seems heavy with four drops. Mono blue has tide binder and rapid to mess up your mana curve while mono black will pick apart your hand and then force you to drop your creatures in pairs, or risk loosing them. My advice, drop the clans and an evolution and run mizzium mortars in the main deck. That or magma jet for the scry. I think there is a winning deck concept here, and i like your mana curve; though in test hands it was fairly often I couldn't drop the mystic bc the only green source was a scry. I'll put this together and test it and maybe then have some better advice. You're really thinking outside the Box. Good-luck.

You really put effort into helping others with ideas!.. Thanks! :)

My 4 drops come down easily, however, when struck by Thoughtseize at the beggining + an early removal, it can be difficult to come back in before Mono-Black kicks my ass, but usually, it happened...

If Mono-Blue "Hybranize" my mana dorks early, that 3/3 RockLubster token is enough to defend until I get my stuff out there...

Besides, Courser & Fanatic are both great defenders, at least until I get rolling, even if they die, tough Courser usually won't die of blocking, except against Gruul, or Naya, sometimes Mono-Red... ...Fanatic is also an amazing early/mid-game agressor & 2 of it can easily end the game...

I have 11 mana dorks, 3 of them is a nice 0/3 blocker with Hexproof(cmc2) & I also have Courser & Xenagos, Zarek + Evolution are also ramp cards, even Kiora at times... ...when I cast Xenagos, or Zarek on turn 3-5, 6 times out of 10 I can cast another planeswalker & 2 times out of the remeaning 3, I can still cast a Fanatic, or a Courser that turn...

Clan Defiance is amazing against Mono-Blue, Mono-Black, Orzhov-aggro, Bant-Flash & useful against other types of decks as well... ...usually, it gets strong around turn-6-7, if I get Thoughtseized+removaled, than on turn 7-9, but I can hold out easily most of the time...

Jace, Kiora & Courser togeather are amazing defenders, so fast aggro decks are usually not a problem & when I'm up against a control deck, they can't put me down before a huge Defiance, tough could they easily take out Borborygmos, if I couldn't kill them without attacking with him(usually I have 4-5 land in hand when I cast him & a Clan Defiance beforehand may set up the kill)...

I wonder how your testing will go... ...when I put this togeather, I was also conserned about the lack of cheap removal, but this deck is like Bant decks they use today (only a couple of removal)... :)

Why do you call it "Evolution Fanatic" when none of those creatures Evolve?
