Deck discussion for Evolution (with 33% more frog)

deck is really good but delete Simic Guildmage and your deck's becomes type 2, otherwise you can't play in tournements

I actually already cut out 2 copies, but the possibility to keep swithing who gets counters from forced adaptation or kept captive by krasis incubation is awesome. (it says the aura switches from one permenant to another with the same controller, but if you put it on the enemy to begin with, then it can keep switching the the most powerful creature.

When it comes to adding +1/+1 counters I like to recommend Increasing Savagery from Dark Ascension set. Turn 4 you can drop 5 counters, and then late game you can cast it at Flashback cost for 10 counters.

You know, I did not think of that. I was trying to stay in dissension and return to ravnica block and didn't think there would be good cards from other sets. I'll cut the guildmages for a pair of increasing savagery. Thanks.

Maybe 4-6 fewer legendaries

why? the legendaries make the world go round. although, 1-2 zegana being dropped wouldn't hurt.

Try playing it out turn by turn; best case scenario your first creature doesn't come out until turn, assuming that one of the 4 gyre sages is in your hand. There is no aggro, control, lifegain, and only one way to draw cards, which is conditional having fathom mage already in play. Vorel is just as likely to help your opponents as much as yourself. Krasis incubation if used on your own creature is 7 mana for 2 1/1 counters, very inefficient. If used on an opponents creature, you are give giving it 2 1/1 counters for 7 mana, whereas rapid hybridization costs 1 to cast, can destroy opponents fatties, or trigger evolve on your own creatures. Something to think about

nobody ever said I had to pay 7 for krasis incubation. just use the first ability, and then pay 3 to recall it if the creature it's attached to is going to die.

Reconstructing anew to mono green evolve, simic was fun but slow

I'm inclined to agree with the idea of limiting the amount of legendaries. There are plenty of control cards out in the Ravnica block. Plasm Capture will work well with the X mana cost in Nimbus Swimmer, but of course there are others, even cheaper ones that work just as well. With Forced Adaption and the Evolve mechanic you want to try and stay in the game long enough to get big, control cards will help with that.

to update your analysis, best case scenario is a first turn experiment one, you can draw cards with give/take, the only condition is that you have a creature, vorel cannot be used by your opponent, the entire deck is agro, and krasis incubation can be used to stop opposing creatures. remember that opponents can NOT activate the abilities on my cards unless the ability is a trigger.

nice update overall, looks more well rounded now

also im not sure if this counts as aggro?

granted, this isn't a fast agro deck, but it does get creatures that are big. I once got gyre sage and vorel in my opening hand and on turn 8 I had 32 +1/+1 counters on her.

yeah more on the stompy side; does primordial hydra not warrant a place in this deck? couldnt hurt imo

of course. when I started this deck, it was, with the exception of hinterland harbor, all dissension/rtr block. dissension was taken out, but I didn't explore other sets.

Aetherling's exile ability works very well with master biomancer and the evolve trigger. Just sayin...
