The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

This is second draft of deck. The deck still needs work. Now that I've put in Life from the Loam what lands should I consider putting in to abuse use of Life from the Loam?

How to Play

Use Life from the Loam, Golgari Thug, Hermit Druid to put cards into graveyard. Then use Eternal Witness (use Dread Return or Golgari Thug to find and play Eternal Witness to find All Hallow's Eve or Bloodbond March to bring bunch of rats from graveyard into battle field.

Deck discussion for Rat Colony Deck

I don't like zombie infestation in here. It lets you dump rats from your hand but it nukes your hand in the process for very little benefit (3 cards for a 2/2). A more efficient way to get what you need in the grave is through dredge mechanics. Golgari Thug puts stuff in the grave and lets you pull back Eternal Witness in the process. Golgari Grave-Troll is the king of dredge.

During research for my own colony I saw echoing courage listed.

Hi dknight, I put in zombie infestation because I liked it over putrid imp because zombie infestion was more likely to help make the needed 3 creatures to sacrifice for Dread Return. But still you have a point the deck does need stuff like more dredge, evasion, mana acceleration. So I've added Filth for evasion, took out Zombie Infestation and put in Life of the Loam for more dredge and some mana acceleration put in Golgari Thug even more dredge and for recursion of Eternal Witness.

A variant with zombie infestation AND echoing return is possible.

What about Zombie Infestation and Bloodbond March?
I was playing around with a similar idea, as I was looking for something like Extirpate or Surgical Extraction, that lets you remove all cards of a given name, but not into exile, but rather into the graveyard.

Muktol: it fits a bg colony pretty well.

Hi Muktol, Don't know of any card quite like what you want. Thus this use of dredge in my deck. If you look carefully you will notice Bloodbood March is in deck but I took out Zombie Infestation for Life from the Loam.

HI Wickeddarkman, You should post your idea of a Rat Colony deck with Echoing Return I'd look forward to seeing it.

That is an extremely longterm project.
I do however run some notes on it for myself

I've also posted a version yesterday, that is basically imitating a merfolk deck

Bloodbond March + Plumb the Forbidden could also work.
And among the eldrazi, Catacomb Sifter might be fun.
