Deck Description

So for a while now I've been looking for a way to abuse Waste Not in a Mono-black Modern Discard deck.

Waste Not
Enchantment 1B
Card Rules
Whenever an opponent discards a creature card, put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
Whenever an opponent discards a land card, add {B}{B} to your mana pool.
Whenever an opponent discards a noncreature, nonland card, draw a card.

Finally I found what I was looking for Mind Slash and Dark Deal.

Mind Slash English
Enchantment, 1BB (3)
{B}, Sacrifice a creature: Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a card from it. That player discards that card. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.

Dark Deal
Sorcery 2B
Card Rules
Each player discards all the cards in his or her hand, then draws that many cards minus one.

I immediately thought about ways to provide creatures to Mind Slash so I can remove
any card from opponent's hand for just one Black mana. Recursive zombies is what I came up Gravecrawler + Bloodghast (with 8 fetch lands to power the Bloodghast)

Other minor combos in deck are

Conflux of Fate + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon
Languish + Erebos Titan

and of course

Waste Not + Dark Deal

Deck discussion for Mono-Black Modern Waste Not

Like you deck, I have always wanted to do a discard theme deck. If you weren't looking to just having this modern legal, then I would have suggested "Cabal Therapy" or "Blackmail". Your deck is a different take on discarding than I would have gone. First of what happens when the have no more cards to discard. This is why I thought of adding some blue in the mix so you could return stuff to their hand and make them draw cards. ??? Hold on, why would you want to return stuff to the hand and make them draw? Things like "Liliana's Caress" and "Fate Unraveler" and "Warped Devotion". Anyways that is my take on discard decks. By the way how are you suppose to return the other 3 creatures to your hand if you have no way for them to?

Hi AlucardYagami13,

Thanks for the comments.
In reply to your first question "What happens when the have no more cards to discard?"
Well that's a good time to build to Liliana's Ultimate or to bring out Skithiryx, the Blight and the following turn cast Conflux of Fate.

In reply to to your second question "How are you suppose to return the other 3 creatures to your hand if you have no way for them to?"
Bloodghast only needs landfall to bring it back into play where it can then be sacrificed to Mind Slash to force opponent to lost a chosen card.
Gravecrawler likewise only needs another zombie under your control to allow it to be cast from graveyard back into play where it can then be sacrificed to Mind Slash to force opponent to lost a chosen card.

Oh yeah, I have a R/B version of this deck that uses Burning Inquiry and Reforge the Soul to draw cards into opponent's hand and then discard them which may cause Liliana's Caress to kill them.

Here's the deck http://www.mtgvault.com/planestalker/decks/rb-modern-waste-not/
Take a look and tell me what you see.
