Deck Description

Well its finally here my 100th deck! After only 85 days as MTG member.

For my 100th deck I've decide to make a slightly faster version of my favorite Reanimator Deck.

Please help me complete the deck by suggesting creatures I should put into deck to reanimate.

Please only make suggestions for creatures that can be targeted in graveyard by Reanimate, Exhume, or Necromancy. One creature per member limited to first 9 different creatures suggested.

As a special reward to all those who commented on my decks I will attempt to look and comment on at least one deck per member that comments on any of my decks over the next few days.

Many thanks to the following members for their constructive comments.
I very much look forward to reading more from you in the future.

And special thanks to all those that clicked Like on my decks.
I hope you've enjoyed my decks as much as I have creating them.

Now a little about my 100th Celebration Deck.

Here is just a few of the many ways this deck reanimates:

1. Dark Ritual + Emtomb + Reanimate or Exhume - Traditional Reanimator Technique

2. Dark Ritual + Small Pox (Toss Fatty into Graveyard) + Reanimate Fatty

3. Dark Ritual + Thoughtseize or Unmask or Smallpox self to Discard Fatty into Graveyard + Reanimate or Exume

4. Dark Ritual + Thoughtseize or Unmask Opponent (remove any counterspell or cards like swords to plowshare) + Entomb + Reanimate (if safe to do so)

5. Opponent has one creature in play + Small Pox + Reanimate or Animate Dead or Necromancy Opponent's
Creature

The general plan is for using this deck.

1. Mulligan until you have some discard cards in hand there are 9 such cards in the deck.
2. Turn one hopefully use some discard on the opponent to remove any disruption to any reanimator combos you might have in hand.
3. Turn two attempt to create a reanimation combo if it seems like a good idea after looking at opponent's hand on turn 1 or if it doesn't seem a good idea try to use discard on opponent again if possible.
4. Turn three if seems like a good idea attack. If not too bad wing it.
5. Repeat turns 3 and 4 until you win or lose.

May you always make your own good luck.

Chimney Imp?

Don't have to spend your time getting out the 5 swamps to summon the badass.

Hi Agrias,

Imp added to deck. Like the idea of forcing a possible creature discard from either my or opponent's graveyard. Of course Putrid Imp is a less expense to do the same thing but not as sure way (as it needs a turn to get over summoning sickness). Thanks for the input.

Oh my Oh my. I just re-read Chimney imp it doesn't force opponent's creature to graveyard, but to top of opponent's library. Chimney imp may be one of the worse cards ever. 5 mana for a pretty lame ability.

Now how about suggesting a creature for this deck?

this way it is a lot easier to have it back in the graveyard once its on the field this way you can have lots of fun reanimating him again and again...

Ha! berkner,

Daco added. Reanimating again and again almost sounds like a Dredge Deck, something I've yet post. Thanks for the idea.

Disruptive Pitmage added. I've always loved Kira, Great Glass-Spinner for its protective counter spell ability making a deck with Kira and Disruptive Pitmage would be a great idea. Oh wait I already have

Draco has an upkeep cost that he can't pay. It dies before he even gets to swing with it.

Common targets for Reanimation are Inkwell Leviathan, Angel of Despair, Iona, Sundering Titan, and Sphinx of the Steel Wind. Iona pretty much ends games on turn 1 or 2.

Hey Sparki,

Yup, Draco is a silly choice for this deck, but I as I said in the deck description about creatures like "Phage the Untouchable (you lose game if you reanimate it) will be honored! The sillier the better."
so in went Draco. You've listed a bunch of nice creatures since nobody has been posting lately to this deck I'm going to break my rule of just 1 creature per member and add all of your suggestions. Thanks for the input.

my favorite creature of all time is definitely siege-gang commander lol and he is alot of fun:p unfortunately you wont be able to fling him very far(due to lack of red mana) but he cool all the same:)

Hey TheNightAngel,

You've done alot of decks too nearing your first hundred soon. Is there any particular deck you'd like me to take a look at?

ok so creatures for reanimating should be:
2x Hellkite Overlord
1x Iona Shield of Emeria
1x Akroma Angel of Fury
1x Sphinx of the Steel Wind
2x Kokusho Evening Star

Then toss Encroach and add Exhume (allows for first turn Entomb/Exhume combo that nets you any one creature you want)

Hi Ahmet,

I've chosen to add Kokusho Evening Star (your limit of one creature per member) and taken out Chimney Imp (Imp was a silly suggestion that I said I would allow but now I'm turning deck into a more serious deck since it might go top 50) Thanks for input.

I'm honestly surprised no one mentioned Worldgorger Dragon. Are infinite mana combo's just too obvious?

1
Posted 16 February 2011 at 13:11

Hi soulknife,

Interesting idea about Worldgorger but the deck isn't really set to use infinite mana.

I take it you were referring to the Worldgorger/ Animate Dead or Nerromancy combo

How it works:

1. Cast Animate Dead or Necromancy, targeting the Dragon
2. Dragon comes into play, it's ability goes on the stack.
3. The ability resolves, and all my other permanents leave play
4. Since Animate Dead left play, Dragon goes to the graveyard
5. Since the Dragon left play, the land and Animate Dead or Necromancy return to play. Animate Dead or Necromancy triggers, targeting the Dragon.
6. In response to Animate Dead's or Necromancy ability going on the stack, tap the lands for mana.
7. Animate Dead or Necromancy resolves, Dragon comes into play, everything else leaves play.
8. Steps 4-7 repeat endlessly. Your mana pool fills.
9. You can interrupt the sequence to play an instant.
Combo explaination taken from
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion.aspx?multiverseid=35056

But you're right Worldgorger is a very cool card in the right deck it can be like a Palinchron is in a high tide deck. The problem I see is that this deck doesn't have alot of cards that can use up alot of mana
at instant speed and I am limiting the kind of creatures to 1 only for this deck.

Deep thanks for input.

Hi Tygoat,

I tend to use bloodghast or insidious bookworm instead of reassembling skeleton, but in the right deck reassembling skeleton is nice creature especially in black sacrifice creature bring out big bad demon decks.

Sedris the traitor King is a very nice card for a reanimator deck but I like Geth, Lord of the Vault even more.

If fact that gives me an idea Animate Dead + Worldgorger + Swamp + Geth, Lord of the Vault would be very wicked combo allowing milling of opponent's library and taking control of any opponent's artifacts or creatures milled into the graveyard. I sense a new deck coming together soon.

Thanks for your input.

Hey there Congrats on your 100th deck, might be worth throwing in It Thats Betrays, big damage and its always fun taking control of your opponents creatures :), regardless this deck looks like it would be a blast to play keep up the good work

1

I know Im not one of the first nine to comment but thought it might be worth chimming in that I have a reanimator deck that works off that similar basis, I use 'Animate Dead' 'Dance of the Dead' or 'Exhume' within the first three turns ((turn one with a Lucky reanimate card, 'Dark Ritual' and 'Entomb', turn 2 if I do nothing first turn discard a creature then 'Dark Ritual' into a reanimate card)) For my Creature base I run 4x 'It that Betrays' 4x 'Pathrazer of Ulamog' (Which is UNSTOPPABLE if played fast enough) and a 'Thraximundar' and 'Malfegor' for flavor.

What about adding Haakon, Stromgald Scourge. with him no need to use one of your exhume/reanimate cards

Hi gk101,

Wow, never knew about Haakon, Stromgald Scourge,. he is an very interesting reanimation creature but I feel he really needs his own deck with lots of knights to really utilize him fully. May be I'll make a deck later based around him later. Thanks for the input.

Hey [email protected] and Wiebeast_462,

Yup, Eldrazi are great for reanimator decks. If fact rather early on the first reanimator deck I posted was
Bring Out Your Eldrazi Deck (Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=123170)
And very much like Wiebest_462 deck it brings out

3x Artisan of Kozilek
3x It That Betrays
3x Pathrazer of Ulamog

using 4x Doomed Necromancer, 4x Exhume, 4x Reanimate, 4x Soul Exchange with help from
4x Dark Ritual, 4x Entomb, 3x Buried Alive, and 4x Zombie Infestations.

I while I really like the theme of the my Bring Out Your Eldrazi Deck it does pretty poorly against control decks because it lacks true disruption; annihilator effects are too slow with non-hasted creatures. This is why I really like this deck and other like it that use discard cards both as a means to put creatures in graveyard and for diisruption by removing key cards from opponent's hand.
