When Khans of Tarkir came out, and I saw the BUG commander Sidisi, I immediately started to work on a Zombie EDH deck centered around her. Zombies are my favorite tribal and creature type, and I'm determined to build a quality, highly competitive deck revolving around Zombies and graveyard play. This is my current deck how it stands in real life, I'm posting this public for people to post their comments, concerns, and thoughts about the deck on how to improve it. Think I should add something? Well let me know! But please, also offer a card to be replaced by it in the current deck. One thing to note and keep in mind, is Sidisi's ability that puts Zombie tokens onto the battlefield can only occur once. For example: If you mill 3 cards from her ability, and two creatures go into the graveyard, you only get ONE zombie token. That's why I put more self mill into the deck that centers from the library, but also make it so that you can control what you mill. Now granted, this doesn't work all the time because Magic is a game of luck and RNG, but you can still somewhat control your pace of the game.Zombies get hated on, because they're easy TO hate on. Rakdos Charm, Bojuka Bog, anything that exiles your graveyard sucks. World clears can potentially screw you over as well, but baiting them out early can make Army of the Damned and Empty the Pits a lot more impressive to pull off when nobody has a way to kill off your tokens. The best way I can think to negate a lot of the hate towards graveyards is things like Cemetery Reaper, who can exile a card in response to get a token out, and of course Varolz. The most impressive card to put in that punishes graveyard hate would be Rakshasa Vizier, which pretty much says "Well, you exiled 34 cards from my graveyard, now I'm gonna swing in for lethal."You don't want to play your entire hand by turn 4, which trust me is completely possible with this deck. You need to be able to control your draws, and be able to have answers up and keep your opponents wondering what's in your hand. Your zombies are fragile, but as long as your lords are up you should be okay. That's why I usually save my graveyard retrieval for my lords such as Death Baron or Undead Warchief, or I simply clone one of them. Of course, if Avacyn gets discarded or a Jin-Gitaxis is just waiting in a graveyard ready to get snatched up, you should most likely go for that option...but otherwise, hold on to your retrieval.
