I wanted a deck that would combine my favorite cards from the new set: the green dinos, vraska, and settle the wreckage. Put it all together and you have a pretty sweet curse control deck.
I think this deck performs best by turning the game into a slow, grindy match. Use the trials to control the board early game, and throw a cartouche on your creatures to get the trials back. Trials are excellent for killing those hard to kill creatures, the gods, hazoret, and carnage tyrant. Build up your board when you can but use your creatures to block instead of attack. Let your opponent waste their resources on removing your stuff. Getting a torment or two out will keep your opponents hands empty, while you can draw cards using treasure map/raptor/arguel's. Use the priest to gain life and to tutor carnage tyrant when you need him.Use the sideboard to adapt to certain matchups. Against aggro decks sideboard in harsh scrutiny and kinjali's for cast out. use both of them liberally, kinjali's will slow down their board buying you a turn, and harsh scrutiny will kill strong creatures from the hand before they become a problem. For other control matchups sideboard in duress. Empty their hand and get torment of scarabs out to drain them away. If they counterspell duress, that's one less card of yours that they can counterspell, if they don't, take their counterspells. You win either way.
