Deck Description

The Rally the Ranks enchantment inspired me to build a soldier tokens deck around Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Precinct Captain.

How to Play

My main focuses are token generators and lords.

My secondary focuses are utility soldiers, removal, protection, and creature lands:

1) 9 Token generators:

3x Brimaz, King of Oreskos: a 3/4 cat solder that does not die to fatal push's first ability and creates a 1/1 solider when he attacks. This synergizes with my Rally the Ranks because the 1/1 token becomes a 2/2.

4x Precinct Captain: a 2/2 first strike that creates a 1/1 soldier token if it deals combat damage to your opponent. This synergizes with Luminarch Aspirant's and Basri Ket's +1/+1 counter ability because I can keep putting counters on him and, as a result, i will either kill my opponent's creatures with his first strike ability or i deal damage and create a 1/1 soldier.

2x Finale of Glory: for XWW I get X 2/2 vig soldiers and this is my late game strategy because I have the most mana in the late game.

2) 11 lords:

4x Rally the Ranks: this gives my soldier creatures +1/+1 and, more importantly, it gives my soldier tokens +1/+1, which gives each token a baseline 2/2 and allows me to increase the pressure on my opponent.

4x Luminarch Aspirant: Her goal is to make my brimaz and Precinct Captain large enough so that they don't die when they attack, which allows me to continue my token generation strategy.

3x Basri Ket: Basri also acts as a +1/+1 counter generator and he can double my tokens because with his -2 ability, i could attack with all my tokens and then I get 1/1 soldiers for each token attacking, which doubles my tokens.

3) Equipment:

2x Maul of the Skyclaves: the maul is also part of the large strategy because, by giving Brimaz or the Precinct Captain flying and first strike, I can consistently attack and, as a result, I can consistently create token.

4) Utility Soldiers:

4x Preeminent Captain: he generates value by cheating in a soldier when he attacks.

3x Kytheon, Hero of Akros: he turns into a Gideon planeswalker if he attacks with 2 other creatures, which will be easy to do with my tokens.

5) Removal:

4x Skyclave Apparition: this is the best 3 drop removal spell due to its versatility.

6) protection:

4x Brave the Elements: this protects my tokens against sweepers like anger of the gods and it also acts as a win-con because it gives my white tokens protection from a color, which will allow them to attack unblocked and deal enough damage to win the game.

7) creature lands:

4x Mutavault: Rally the Ranks makes Mutavault a 3/3 for 1 mana, so there's value in playing for of them in my deck.

I hope you enjoyed this deck.

Please like and comment.

Deck discussion for White Aggro Soldiers

Nice outline. Have you thought about the sideboard yet ?

Hello Wickeddarkman,

Thanks for the question.

I decided to go with a sideboard based on a recent 5-0 white human deck, with some modifications (https://mtgdecks.net/Pioneer/humans-decklist-by-crzyf0rs3f-1102593).

Note: my friend plays niv to light, so I like to have a strong sideboard against that deck and it's the number one deck in pioneer according to MTGgoldfish, so Its best to be prepared.

2x Selfless Spirit: this saves my creatures against blue/white control decks that use sweepers.

4x Devout Decree: this is a cheap removal against Kroxa, niv to light, and black aggro decks.

2x Rest in Peace: this card is also good against Kroxa decks and mono black decks that want to recur their creatures.

3x Damping Sphere: this is good against Mono-Green Planeswalkers because it shuts down Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. It also helps against combo decks, which are becoming more rare due to the previous combo bannings.

2x Declaration in Stone: I see this card used against mono black aggro decks because it exiles one of their creatures, which prevents their recurring abilities.

2x Banishing Light: this for non red and black planeswalker decks such as niv to light & Mono-Green Planeswalkers

If my Skyclave Apparition does not work out, i will replace it with 4 Declaration in Stones, which would free up two side board slots and, as a result, I might add in 2x Tocatli Honor Guards because here static ability prevents ETB triggers and would severely hinder niv to light and kroxa decks, plus she is a soldier, so she benefits from rally the rank's lord effect.

Thanks,

That raised one more question :)
Does anyone play declaration in stone alongside a card like pithing needle to lock down clues ?

Hey wickeddarkman,

I have never thought of using pithing needle along side dec in store, but it sounds like a neat idea.

Getting to lock down several creatures and lock down the clues may be good, but only if they got answers to neither. Being aggro you might prefer to use phyrexian revoker instead.

feel like it might need some more things to do on turn 1? Did you consider something like legion's landing or something? Also maybe even like a 2 of force of virtue over 2 of rally the ranks- can act as a faster option and also a combat trick if needed- people can walk into it. Castle ardenvale and/or Emmeria's Call are also almost 0 opportunity cost lands for a build like this and its good utility for late game or flood protection. Just some thoughts! Cool build

Hello Hipponox,

Thanks for the comments.

I like the idea of adding some Castle ardenvale and Emmeria's Call, but i am not sure how many to add, so what do you suggest.

I forgot to set the deck type to pioneer and, as a result, your force of virtue suggestion is not legal.

Legion's landing does not produce soldiers, so it does not synergize with rally the ranks.

I'd probably go 2 ardenvale and 1 Emeria's Call but it depends. You might only want to take out two plains to ensure ardenvale comes into play untapped, so there might be an argument for just one of each. Also thought there could be an argument for like a 1 of memorial to glory or something if you wanted soldier specific lands, and since you dont have a ton of turn 1 plays, that might be an ok tap land to include. And sorry! I Assumed it was modern!
