Deck discussion for Junk Warriors

I like it. Nothing costs more than four, you have creature removal and hand removal, and strong creatures for low costs. I can see this deck being very effective.

Phyrexian crusader is bad because he is your only inext creature. Perhaps mirran crusader? He can't be rancored but be rarely needs to be.
Also with no fetches Deathrite shaman is not very good

Phyrexian Crusader is bad?
I think first strike, pro white and red are good points. I'm not using it just because of infect.

What would you replace Deathrite with? or what would you add to make good use of Deathrite?

As he suggested, you could add the B/G and W/B fetchlands (Marsh Flats, Verdant Catacombs) to make better use of Deathrite shaman.

This is similar to one I almost built but regret not doing so. Try looking at it you may like it and may give some ideas to yours. Also, read the comments on it for more suggestions.

PS: GWB is named Necra <3

Putrefy or mortify? I dunno, you have a pretty good smattering of stuff here. Curve looks solid, if a little high on 1 drops.

Unfortunately, although you are playing cards that are brutally effective in Standard competitive, you are also playing cards that are not available there. This relegates you to the Modern format, where cards like Desecration Demon don't really cut it. This means you are in the awkward position of having a good deck, but also one that is not quite good enough for Modern... However, this could be converted to play in Standard competitive while keeping the core of the deck pretty similar (Also if you only play for fun, feel free to ignore this comment entirely).

In order to convert this to Standard competitive, I would just keep the Thoughtseizes, Smiters, Demons, and Shamans the same, and then add some more midrangey things and standard removal. I would max out Abrupt Decay and Deathrite Shaman and then think about Hero's Downfall, Obzedat, and maybe Scavenging Ooze.

If you want to keep it in modern I would agree with the above comment about your Crusaders; infect doesn't make any kind of sense in this deck.

Well with a rancor Phyrexian Crusader can be a game ending threat, or a sick blocker. Also I think it's only a little weak for modern. It could give most modern decks I know a run for their money. I wouldn't bet on it in an 11 game match, but I would possibly bet on it in a 3 game match.

No that's not the problem. The problem is that when you run both infect and normal damage, you've effectively divided your win cons and made it so you can't pursue either as efficiently. Imagine they're at 1 life and you have a Crusader. Or they have 9 poison counters and you have a Demon. See what I mean?

It would be decent in anything but competitive play. It would have some trouble when it started getting big leagues (you have to fight tarmogoyfs and cryptic commands).

None of this is to say that I don't respect the deck. I just build decks with a format in mind, and I want to feel like I built something competitive

I'm aware. Though most of the people I know can't afford a 'goyf playset, so what I see most of the time is merfolk tribal, elves tribal, goblin tribal, etc. Also see some whacky control decks using cascade, restore balance , and greater gargadon, and I myself tend to play an effective if un-imaginative izzet control deck. Point being I see a lot in my modern environment. While splitting damage is bad, protection from white red is sweet. However I think we will just have to agree to disagree about crusader.

Personally i think there just happens to me a more apt crusader. Mirran crusader has double strike if you feel pro red and white is a thing that needs to happen sword of war and peace is a real thing and hurts people pretty badly (bonus if you get that monster on mirran crusader for pro-four color)

Well I imagine if he had swords they would probably be in here. Atleast I hope they would be. Also mirran crusader can't fight a 3/3 and live without a buff.

Honestly mirran crusader shines in an equipment deck, it wouldn't do well here being pro green and black. Though I agree, Phyrexian Crusader should probably go since he has infect. Just going to throw this out here, but how about fiendslayer paladin or Silverblade Paladin?

oooh I like the Silverblade Paladin. Of course, the other Paladin is better, but I love the possibility of giving that Demon or Smiter double strike.

Yeah I thought so too. Turn 2-3 smiter, turn 3-4 rancor smiter and then silverblade. 6/4 with double strike and trample.

yeah but technically it's not really better because in a vacuum it's a 2/2 for 3 and if you kill one of the two creatures they both lose doublestrike. Still, fun thought.

Oh and PauperEDHGeneral and anyone else who cares: Deathrite Shaman is now banned in modern. This was announced Monday.
