Deck Description

I really enjoyed playing with the new Evolve mechanic, so I thought about ways to get the most out of it.
Undying Creatures manage to trigger Evolve greatly... and with Rapid Hybridization and Perilous Research (both being Instants) I am able to freely trigger them.
Also Hunger of the Howlpack can be easily triggered and therefore can dramatically speed up my Mana base via the Gyre Sage or Results in an enormous Card draw thanks to Fathom Mage!

Any Ideas on a Sideboard are very welcomed!
Instant Counter transfer, like Bioshift, or via Zameck Guildmage are considered optional and especially usefull against decks with a lot of field control.

How to Play

Top Draw:
Turn 1: Cloudfin Raptor
Turn 2: Youngwolf (1st. Evolve Counter) + Rapid Hybridization onto Youngwolf 2nd Evolve from 3/3 Frog-Lizard + a 2/2 Wolf

Anything else seems kinda intuitive...

Deck discussion for Undying Simic

Very very nice idea with Rapid Hybridization!
I'd switch Perilous Research for Bioshift, not only would it make the deck standard legal but you can draw a ton of cards with the Phantom Mage :D You can also use it to save an undying creature that has a +1+1 token by moving it when it's about to get destroyed :)

Totally forgot about the Ceratog... thx!
And the thing about Bioshift: I didn't include it on purpose for the extra opportunity to instant trigger any Undying / Morbid creatures via Perilious Research. But i can imagine to include it as a sideboard card against heavy field control decks. On the other hand, instant power changes can be important, especially with the trample effect from Crowned Ceratok. I will definetly test that and see what how both ideas work out! (oh and I just never really cared for the Standard-Format ^^)
Thanks for your commentary!

I'm not sure the Young Wolf + Rapid Hybridization combo works as described. YW is destroyed, putting undying on the stack, then a 3/3 is put into play, putting evolve on the stack. Evolve resolves first, then undying, so the Cloudfin already has 2 +1/+1 counters by the time YW comes back into play, unless I am reading something wrong. Still gets you a 2/3, a 2/2, and a 3/3 on turn two though, so not a bad combo. Ooze flux might be nice to consider as well. It allows you to create a big creature, while at the same time removing the +1/+1 counters from your undying creatures.

I agree about the stack, the frog token would come back first before YW. but thats still not a bad thing, you get a lot done with little mana spent. I just bought the intro evolve deck and im going to tweak it a bit to make it more like yours!

Adjusted my stack optimism.. you are right about that.
For as much as i like Ooze Flux and it's ability to re-Evolve almost every Creature or save my undying cards; I feel like i can accomplish more with Zamek Guildmage.
I played the Deck at my local shop and found myself quite happy about my creature mass, while sometimes getting blocked out by Vorapedes or Fathom Mages if my Gyre Sages somehow don't grow as big as would need them. And since the Guildmage is also capable of saving my undying creatures and give me some extra Card advantage I think i will stick to him.
I also wanted the Deck to be more creature than combo-based, so i tried to avoid Ooze flux, as 4 Mana Card, that cannot attack itself.
Still thanks a lot for your ideas!

You CAN do that combo with Strangleroot Geist however. Because when SG comes back as a 3/2, the 3 is bigger than Cloudfin's power so it triggers. Example: play CF, Play SG, CF gets a counter, play rapid and kill SG, frog gives CF a counter, CF is a 2/3, SG comes back with a counter as a 3/2, since the power of SG is larger than CF's, CF gets a counter. so turn 3 3/4 isn't too bad, no?

This deck is 5 years old. Many great spells have been added to our magical toy boxes since 2013. What modern changes could be made to this fun deck?
