Deck Description

Hello people of the internet!

I was greatly inspired by LLChurch's:
http://www.mtgvault.com/llchurch/decks/community-edh-1/

And I would like to continue the trend!

Let's make magic great again and build a budget EDH deck together!

Remember: The focus is making a fun, semi viable deck, for newer players to enjoy, that's why I think it should be budget. If you do recommend cards that are good, but are a little pricey, i will add them to the sideboard. That way, you have some suggestions to improve the deck!

Deck discussion for EDH budget community

Was make magic great again necessary? And what's the price range since you wanted to make this budget?

absolutely necessary XD I think just around 80 - 100 since it's EDH

Definitely the gods: Atheos, Heliod, Erebus. Maybe their weapons too. Also, gift of immortality. Theros will be great for this deck.

Those are great cards indeed! I did put Athreos in the sideboard due to it's price tag.

If we are allowed to throw multiple cards out, how about Underworld Coinsmith and Campaign of Vengeance?

Yes, you are!
Those seem like fine additions indeed!

To add to our spirit token generation here, I also suggest Field of Souls and Spirit Bonds. However, both require more creatures than we have now. Also, I really appreciate the shout out to my community deck!

Well see where we end up, for now i have added them, but they could get cut later on if we don' t get enough creatures. No problem! It really was your post that inspired me, i think it is a great idea and it might get this great community kicking a bit more :P

Edit:

I just noticed the ability from Spirit bonds should also work with the spirits created witch Daxos right?

Which part? The first part won't as it specifies non-token, which is what Daxos creates. For the second part, you certainly could sacrifice one of Daxos's tokens, as it is still a spirit token.

Yes, the second part is what i was refering to. That way Daxos can keep himself alive.

All the blue proliferate cards like Inexorable tide, which is also an enchantment spell, so daxos will give you a counter when you play it.

Woops, never mind. Daxos the returned is black-white not blue-white. How about Grim Affliction or Spread the Sickness?

How do you see these cards played? Just for the experience? Or with additions like cathars crusade, for the +1/+1 counters?

0

Yeah, you'll get extra experience counters. But if you did add Cathar's Crusade, that'd be cool too. You'd also get more +1/+1 counters from things like the ordeals, and whatever else people add. It was just a suggestion, I'm not sure how well it would work.

That is true indeed, and for now it is added, maybe it gets cut, but the deck could shape up to be something that can take advantage of the proliferate mechanic to! well have to wait and see :P

Helm of the Gods and Sphere of Safety. I've recommended a lot, so that will be my last two

Nice, those are awesome, i almost forgot the tokens from Daxos will help with the helm to! Making that a very potent card.

Edit:

If you'd like to add more suggestions i can put them in the sideboard or mention them in the description.

When you're talking enchantments, for me Sigil of the Empty Throne is an auto-include, no questions asked, pin to the wall, set me on fire, put it in and move along.

Also, out of a conversation with a friend on token strategies, I suggest Illness in the Ranks. Your board won't really feel it, it simply hoses all x/1 token strategies on your opponents' side and it can also function as a fun way to get a buuuunch of death triggers on your end if you have some way to capitalize (and if you've actually got x/1 tokens of your own). It's also an enchantment on its own so there's that too.

Sigil of the empty throne is a great card indeed!
I am not so sure about the illness in the ranks, i think it is best suited as a sideboard card for when your playgroup plays with that kind of strategy. Because if you are the only one focused on creature tokens, you still hurt yourself more then others. That' s why i have put it in the sideboard for now.

It is more of a niche fit. If the list overall ends up in that direction it can be worthwhile mainboard, otherwise I do agree it is mostly just a sideboard card.
