How to Play

Turn 1 you're not really gonna do much except drop your land and possibly play an izzet guildmage off a rite of flame

turn two play that guildmage if you haven't already and try to drop two rite of flames into your graveyard asap, saving a third in your hand for the infinite mana combo, which is the primary goal of this deck.

once you get that infinite mana combo off store it in your gemstone array so as to have infinite mana of any color, (would normally only be red).

then play what you want whenever you want for the rest of the game

Deck discussion for Hail to the Dragon

as much as i love grixis good stuff this deck will be wide open until the 5th turn. That can get you killed. Also there are only 10 things izzet guildmage can copy, and he can only copy them if you opt not to play any of your high drops. Basically my point is the deck is a bit to slow. It looks cool to play though.

thanks for your input! i've been able to test run it and it does run pretty well, usually i don't have too many problems as i can drop something small like the izzet guildmage out around turn two, because i can always tutor or vault up another one if need be. and speed wasn't really the intention, as i only play casual with some of my friends. but it is true that those first four turns or so tend to put the hurt on, though i tend to make up for it with infinite mana by turn six in a casual game.

also, the copying is only done with the rite of flame combo, which generally allows me to get my high drops anyway, and as long as i have a gemstone array, i've got infinite mana of any color for the rest of the game
