Deck Description

It's been awhile since I even thought of this site... and was tinkering around for deck ideas online when I come across here again.

Anyway... I've tried mill decks before and none of them seemed to work so I threw this together around 30 minutes ago and want opinions.

Oh yeah by the way, I realize the obvious changes like B/U dual lands and stuff but this deck was made out of cards that I already own... still appreciate comments though! It lets me know what to buy to improve this. Thanks!

Deck discussion for Yet another Mill deck...

Hi there. Figured I would give a few suggestions for you to consider. I know you made this out of what you have but I think its a bad idea mix this with infect. You could still have a use for proliferate if you goal is to pile counters onto Jace asap.

Personally I would take out Geth. He really isn't that effective and if you have Leyline of the Void in play he will be crippled.
Leyline of the Void is a great card for mill but since you are running extraction cards it probably should be taken out.
I would go with mana leak over cancel since this your deck is multi colored.
Hedron crabs love as many fetch lands as you can run to make full use of landfall.
Tezzeret's Gambit and Jace's Erasure would go well in this deck.
I don't know what format you play in but if you don't want to keep this standard then n my opinion the most powerful mill cards are black and blue and they are Mind Funeral and Glimpse the Unthinkable. You will need to get these cards for your deck to be the best it can be but they are not cheap.
Eradicate and Wind Zendikon is a great combo to stip lands from their deck or you can use it defensivily and help fuel landfall for the crabs. Mind funeral after pulling off this combo and it will mill all or most of their deck.

Good luck!

Alright just a few responses.

Infect is actually used pretty much solely for defense in this deck. Giving a Wall +2/+2 and infect that taps down what it blocks for a turn ALONG WITH the infect counters is just a big finger to my opponent's face.

Geth I'm actually swapping in and out of sideboard along with Leyline rather frequently. I only run 1 in this deck and that's my biggest graveyard removal aside from Haunting Echoes so running the two together actually works better than you'd think.

I'm focusing on getting more dual lands and Mana Leak is really best early-game. In a slow deck like this I prefer Cancel, so the fact that it's multi-colored shouldn't be an issue once I get my hands on those.

I thought about Tezzeret's Gambit, and if I owned more than 1 I would throw it in but I'm working with what I own, and Jace's Erasure just isn't good enough. It's too slow of a mill and I could save the 2 mana I'd spend on it to save me instead against aggro and such. That one turn makes all the difference in my experience. 2 mana can change the outcome of an entire game.

I actually play standard, but if I wanted casual then I'd be running Mind Funerals for sure, Glimpse is a probably but Mind Funerals are a must if I played anything else.

I'd love to take your advice on Eradicate and the Zendikon if I owned any. Lol. I might actually own 2 zendikons and would like to make room but what would I take out?

I thank you sincerely for your advice though. I'll have to apply it when I can.

Forgot to add in, Infect combined with a Nighthawk is a viable win condition as well. There is no downside to adding the infect here. If you don't believe me, playtest it a little and see how often it saves you.
