Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Trying to build a B/G power house sort of deck. I am currently sifting through my cards trying to put together a decent sideboard. Open for suggestions on replacement cards for the deck and/or any suggestion on what to put in the SB.

How to Play

The goal is to create Assassins/Hydra tokens, then simply making them unblockable with Rogue's Passage to stomp your opponents into the ground. Eater, Guildmage, and Champion are in there to feed Dictate of Erebos to keep creatures clear off opponents battlefield. Champion, Serene and Treasured Find are in there to pull Hydras/Vraska out of the graveyard. Can also feed the Hydra to the Guildmage after it's monsterous, creating tons of tokens to feed to the Eater of Hope and Champion of Stray Souls.

Deck discussion for Death, Big or Small

You said this could get modern legal, right?

I can see why you would get overrun by weenie decks (and also modern midrange decks since the new creatures boost each other tremendously if played in tribes or when flocking to block mechanics). So, main focus would be to make this baby faster.

* Astral Cornucopia is way too slow. Dictate of Karametra is not only too slow, it also helps the opponent. Mana Bloom is okay but has no other synergy with the deck. I would replace the Cornucopia and Karametra and optionally also the Mana Bloom with a mix of the following:
- Overgrown Battlement
- Sylvan Caryatid
- Birds of Paradise
They have 3 advantages: 1) they are faster than your previous mana accelerators, 2) they are creatures and therefore can be sacced later to your other cards, 2) they can also block (BoP in a pinch but the other might even survive)

* I would replace Treasured Find with Eternal Witness. She may be one turn slower but provides a warm body to sacrifice (and can chump-block). Additionally, she doesn't get exiled and could therefore be further used by Pharika.

* Abrupt Decay is your removal spell of choice if weenie decks are so common. However, in a more diverse metagame with a healthy dose of slower decks, I would not recommend it. (and it is an expensive card - wait until it rotates out of Type II in a few months)

* I don't see Serene Remembrance's use in here. It shuffles creatures back into your library (and Vraska isn't a creature!), what is that worth? If you want to reuse those creatures, why not reanimate them? You run black, that should be an easy task. Or, what I would do, replace Serene Remembrance with more creatures, preferable some that are also able to come back or bring others back:
- Stinkweed Imp
- Pit Keeper
- Reassembling Skeleton
- Undertaker
also very good pick for your deck:
- Lotleth Troll

Took a trip the the card shop, they did not have a single BoP or Caryatid for sale, so I went through what I had, I have 1 Caryatid, 2 Greenweaver Druids, 4 Overgrown Battlements, 4 Karametras Acolytes, and 4 Elvish Mystics. They also had 4 Lotleths trolls and 2 Eternal Witnesses for sale, bought that all, and picked up 4 reassembling Skeletons, now I'm gonna try to put your suggestions to work and build something. Also, while going through my cards, I came across 2 Rowens and a single Pulse of Llanowar, do you think I should put these in here?

Pulse of Llanowar definately not. Rowen - maybe if you aim for multiplayer but not in a 1-on-1. But be aware that both cards are horribly outdated. Chromatic Lantern and Courser of Kruphix are cheaper and yet better (but come with a price tag)
