This is a deck meant on the original Dimir foundations from Ravinca. With Return to Ravinca and Gatecrash, I'm able to go back to my roots and build a deck around the one thing I love to do most.... mill. This is one of the current decks I actually play in tournaments for FNM. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Right now, my only real weakness is Boros and/or super aggro decks. I'm working on how to eliminate that threat, but if anything... this deck is super fun in group games.

So for now, I have two recommendations, but I'll keep looking into it and see if I can find anything else that will help you deal with aggro (especially Boros, ugh Boros.) Anyways to the actual point! First, I think you should reconsider Balustrade Spy, not because it is a bad card, but because it only mills once, and not for very much. It also isn't powered up by mill, not does it assist in controlling the board to allow you to mill your opponent. While not a bad card on the surface (its pretty amazing in draft and decent in other formats), against an aggro deck (which standard is filled with at the moment), you will just be playing it for the active and then eventually blocking with it, as your deck doesn't seem to win mainly by damage, but rather by milling. Correct me if I am wrong about that. Anyways, now that I have suggested you remove something, I'll give you a card to add. I know it may sound silly or obvious, or stupid, or whatever, but maybe consider adding Hands of Binding. It is great against things like Boros Reckoner (if you can get by with Mindshrieker or Stalker), can slow down aggro decks, and you can use it on a bigger threat should something come up. This also allows you to stay in Dimir instead of splashing white for Verdict of Detention Sphere. Later in the game if they have few creatures it can even allow you to get in some swings with Consuming Aberration. Also consider Dimir Keyrune with the HoB, as you can cipher onto the Keyrune and avoid board wipers, saving your tapper. Just something to consider.Wow, can't believe I wrote that much. Ah well, hope you take this to heart, respond to me if you have any questions or anything of the sort. If you do, I'll keep looking through the standard pool for some more answers to current standard threats.Good luck at FNM, maybe find out what decks others play and think about responses to that. I can only help you with standard decks in general, you have to tailor your deck to your play group.

Well standard Boros decks are my main problem and that's mainly what EVERYONE plays at the place I go with the exception of one who play a Naya deck (which still focuses on Boros) and a mono red (that plays like a Boros). Taking out the Spys is actually a great idea, the Keyrune is an iffy idea, but I'm thinking about that one. I think adding Hands of Binding could be really fun. Tapping Boros Reckoner, or stopping it by any means is always a great idea.
Maybe play void walk ? Cipher card that flickers a creature you control in and out retriggering the ETB ability. Looks fun but I like haveing a backup plan if milling wont work(main boarding a elixer of immortality would screw me over!
Actually, once the creature leaves play the Cipher ability is no longer encoded. Unless I read your post wrong....
Cipher Voidwalk to Invisible Stalker, flicker the Spy. I have a Mill deck myself, I used to run something similar to this but I have made some changes recently. And I think it's a little more consistent for me lately. I'll build the deck on here to show you, if interested in seeing my approach.
Yeah Keyrune is really only good for cipher focused decks, so not really something you might want, but a possibility. Yeah Boros, Naya, and B/W/R is the main standard play I see at my local shop. I'm actually an aggro player, but I want to build a control deck, just need to find one that doesn't spend my college tuition! (and that I like playing)Also, you are definitely right, the cipher drops off a flickered creature, also it doesn't seem like a great back-up plan. A better one I feel would be to swing for a crap ton of damage with an Aberration or pumped up Mindshrieker.
Aberration with Trepanation Blade is what I love doing, for starts if Aberration can get out by turn 5-6 (providing I'm not dead yet) typically I would have milled a few things. Add Trep blade and not only does it buff up Aberration, but it also sends more cards to the graveyard, meaning it buffs up more.
A few things have been changed, for example Fog Banks have been added as well as Invisible Stalkers. Any feed backs would be great.
Victim of the Night works really well against boros. also gloom surgeon in your sideboard for aggro could be helpful. i would also put in one or two jace, memory adept and two or three nephalia drownyards in your main deck.
against boros or red decks i run hover barriers instead of fog banks. it doesnt die to searing spear or pillar of flame. and human frailty is nice too. if you wanna take a look http://www.mtgvault.com/afarrell1610/decks/cleopatra/
http://www.mtgvault.com/mikemomagic/decks/dimir-mill/I really really like the idea of Trepanation Blade / Invisible Stalker with the Dimir Guildmage together. I might include those into my deck now
