Deck discussion for U/B mill returns

14 cards in the sideboard?
Remember lurrus prevents ensnaring bridge in the maindeck.

how does that prevent it in the main deck ? Lurrus only makes CMC smaller, not power

Ensnaring bridge is a permanent that costs 3.
Lurrus does not allow that when it's a companion.

Regardless you will lose against the following decks:
Tron type decks
Affinity stoneblade
Bogles
Death's shadow type decks
Humans
Mono red prowress
Rakdos goblins

The reasons for these loses varies, but I got most of it covered in my many articles about mill.
The most recent I've posted can be found if you:
Search for the decktag: wdm 2018
Then click on the deck called "mill data you wont like"

I extract my information on matchups from mtgmeta.io

I agree with some of those lists you state it has a terrible matchup against ( i actually played this on paper so i know first had its weaknesses).... Still dont get how an opponent having lurrus does not allow ensnaring bridge to work. so if everything in your deck has a CMC of 2 or less and i have 0 cards in hand, you can still attack

No no, since you have 14 in the sideboard I assumed you have lurrus as a companion.
And lurrus says you can't build a deck with permanents costing more than 2 in the mainboard, if it's a companion.

When most mill decks are displayed on the net, the sideboards with 14 cards in them are always having a companion.

I'm an ancient miller and one of the few players who actually keeps track of decks in the past and builds mill based on much more info than other millers do.

I got a lot of tips on how to play around all those decktypes on the list because I'm constantly focusing on beating similar builds.

Visions of the beyond for example started seeing play in 2012 where it was played with snapcaster mage. The meta faced snapcaster mage in many decks and one day started playing relic of progenitus to deal with snapcaster, which has since seen play in low amounts and only when relic is less seen. Mill got seriously weakened by this move as snapcaster, visions of the beyond and surgical extraction are extremely weakened by relic of progenitus. Since then, mill became a fringe deck, and the lists changed very little but you can read all of that in the article.

Try replacing visions of the beyond with overwhelmed apprentice. If you look at many of my older deck builds you will see sage of Epityr a lot, and I'm currently measuring how well overwhelmed apprentice can replace it in mill, and it's great. It gives early information about the opponents deck, it's a decent chumpblocker, and it's able to fix your mana if you draw a 1 land hand. Lategame you can use it to ensure that you draw fetchlands for your crabs. It generates a lot more card quality than visions of the beyond can do with a beefed up draw.

yea it was just an error only having 14 in the side, but good points with visions and such

No problem :)
I've also suggested to a number of people that adding 2 simian spirit guide can help killing with the maddening cacophony + fraying sanity combo.
I've suggested that people run less glimpse the unthinkable because it forces the mana into being unstable.

Overall I got lots of comments about mill ;)
It's a pet project for me.

Ive enjoyed it ever since my buddy had a Bloodchief mill deck way back in the table top days... mill is a fun to play mechanic, sucks to play against even in its weaker match ups
