One of my oldest and favorite decks. With it's cost reduction effects, this deck allows you to play your entire hand very, very quickly. Filled with life gain, First strike, Vigilance and light control, this deck has won me more games than I can count. Complete with sideboard.
This deck is really straight forward. It has a midrange curve but with the right opening hand you can really start the game off with a bang. The goal is to draw as many Preeminent Captain, Ballyrush Banneret and Daru Warchiefs as possible. These three cards will allow you to play all your spells much quicker than normal, most of the time allowing you to drop almost your whole hand in one turn with only 3-5 land on the field. Keep in mind these cost reductions also effect Porcelain Legionnaire, allowing you to play him for free if you pay 2 life. Your next most important cards are your Conclave Phalanx and Enlistment Officer. Enlistment officer will allow you to draw 2-3 (average) cards every time you play him. He's a 2/3 First strike for 4, and because he's colorless mana you can sometimes play him for as low as 1 mana. He will also let you bypass land draws late game. The Conclave Phalanx will let you heal for moderate amounts every time you play him. Not only is his cost reduced, he also has Convoke; Allowing you to attack with Vigilance, THEN tap your creatures to play him for free. The last cards in our deck rotation are Stormfront Riders and Kor Skyfisher. Stormfront Riders is our late game bomb. It may not seem like much at first, but it allows us to return out important cards to our hand and replay them (Hopefully for free or really cheap). This card can let us re-play Enlistment Officers and Conclave Phalanx several times a game, and can even be used to bounce other Stormfront riders to continue to combo. Whenever you return a card to your hand this way, you get to put tokens into play, providing us with another win condition other than our normal Soldiers. Using Stormfront Riders to bounce Captain of the Watch has proven to be a lethal combo on many occasions. This effect can also be used to bounce creatures with negative enchantments on them. Kor Skyfisher is essentially the same thing, only you can't combo off it more than once. It's a better card if you're looking for speed and fliers, earning a spot in the sideboard. This deck does not have much control. It mostly depends on it's speed, Vigilance, First Strike and HIGH toughness cards. It's only control cards are Loxodon Gatekeeper, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Crib Swap, Aven Cloudchaser and Archetype of Courage. Loxodon Gatekeeper slows your opponents down drastically, forcing them to waste removal on him. Thalia is a pesky debuff for spell decks that has no negative effect on us. Crib Swap is a creature removal spell; It's a Changling card so it counts as a Soldier, meaning it's cost can be reduced by our lords and it can be draw with Enlistment Officer. Aven Cloudchaser gets dropped in and out of the main deck depending on our opponents, fantastic enchantment removal attached to a flier. Archetype of Courage provides our creatures with First strike, but more importantly removes the effect from our opponents.
