I guess it boils down to the fact that sacrificing is a cost, and copying a spell copies the previous instance's properties, eg. as if its costs have already been paid...

Sort of my point.
actually, no; you play the original fling, paying its cost (both mana cost and the sacrificed creature). Pyromancer ascension copies it, including the creature referenced and the target (which is later changed). You don't have to pay the cost again, as you are not playing the copy, so you don't have to sacrifice another creature...
I personally don't like the Sword of Vengeance, but if you want to play it safe, War Priest of Thune is the best way in standard to get past those pesky black Leylines...
cheers-I opened a booster with a Gideon and foil Sarkhan-sounds lucky, but nobody wants either of them!
Storm Herd for a heap of Pegasus, Ronom Unicorn for a Demystifying bear...
Quick Question-how good is Gideon Jura? I've never seen him played, but to me he doesn't look like anything I'd play.
Bubbling Muck also helps out, along with Gauntlet of Power - would also be the perfect place for Sanguine Bond, along with Blood Tribute.
Megrims are still in standard for now, and allow you to play eight caresses...
*Fruition
How about Forced Frutition?
The annoying thing about Rage Nimbus is the defender ability-it's a dead card unless you fling it. Those slots are probably better spent with a Pyroclasm or Volcanic Fallout, or maybe a Claws of Valakut (also a good substitute for Thunder Strike). If you insist on replacing it with a creature, Ball Lightning, Hellspark Elemental, and co. will do the trick as well. Is Pyromancer Ascension easy to set up in this deck? I can see the fun in flinging the same creature twice...
oh, true...I guess I was just going by memory... I seriously considered playing Blitz Hellion, but it's a bit too high-curve for me; I play-tested it and it just wasn't that good...
Does it need to be? Primal Rage is not an Elemental either, yet it's just as relevant to the deck as the Forcemage...
I'm not a big fan of highlander in general - I have a Bolas EDH deck, which I do like very much, but that's it.
I never really thought about this before, but you can repeatedly sacrifice Ooze tokens to grow them with the Forcemage...
Primal Forcemage? Nobody bothers with it anymore, but it's perfect for sparky-type decks.
It's ridiculously unlikely of ever working, convoluted, strange...I like it!
I was thinking about that - Doran+Chorus of the Conclave or similar...
Oh, I see. So I guess the Nimbus is for Flinging, and the Thunder Strike just some form of getting past first strike with your weak back ends?
