Deck discussion for Dega Standard

Very nice looking deck
I don't think that there is really anything that could be done to improve it

Yeah, drop the charms. Boros charm is better
But Ultimate Prie could work

i was thinking boros to. but i didnt know what to drop if i wanted it main boarded.

Hero's Downfall is nearly strictly better than Dreadbore, so run 4 of them and 2 Dreadbore. Second, if you look again, you need absolutely no white mana. Take out the Godless Shrines and Sacred Foundries.

i dont want to tie up my red mana with the reckoners. i was going to possibly drop one of each of the shock lands. but i will change the downfalls and dreadbores. and like i was saying in a few comments up i wanted to run charms. so i will need the white mana.

If he uses Boros charm and Boros Reckoner, then there is white mana. although a few more white spells wouldn't go astray

orginally this was a deck with white in it. mostly for obze. but i dropped it. i may want to add chained to the rocks tho. what do you think sorin

Could work. I'd say try it out first and see if it works
If so, keep it in
If not, take it out and replace it with what you originally had

I would put boros charm's in sideboard and add in two rakdos return mainboard and leave two in sidebaord. with 4 rakdos return control is much easier to defeat.

Slaughter Games as sideboard. Can take out some very annoying current standard game killers. Naming an Aetherling or Elspeth will pretty much kill an Esper deck...

True, I would also add an elspeth in place of anger the gods, take out doom blade like you said, and a mizzium mortars, but eventually he'll learn what his decks needs are and his sideboard needs

Running the white mana you are, you could consider adding in a blood baron of viskopa or two. There are plenty of decks where dropping that will guarantee you a win.

With the only white card in the deck being Reckoner I don't think you need white mana.

Slaughtergames sideboard and read the bones mainboard

Yeah, some people mentioned what I see off, but I am going to stress them further. Firstly, you need Read the Bones, it pretty much makes these black midranged decks. I know this, I play Orzhov in Standard. Secondly, even with Reckoner mainboarded, you have no reason to run those white shocklands, they are just slowing you down or pinging you unnecessarily. Just increase your amount of Rakdos Guildgates and red dependency if it's that important to you, and if you like the white so much, mainboard the Charm, which saves your beasts from the likes of hero's downfall and can turn a DD into a, well, bigger hit. Finally, get rid of Devour Flesh on the mainboard, edicts are nice, but there isn't enough hexproof in standard to justify it currently. It would rather be read the bones. I hope my insight can prove a bit useful, and if you disagree with any of it, that's alright. These are just my findings on playing a deck ridiculously like this one (except Precinct Captains were my white-dependency problem, not reckoners :P).

Very nice idea! This will be competative with a few adjustments...

Using 4 Doom Blade mainboard is a little risky... ...you can't sideboard in game-1, so if you go up against mono-black, or something of the sort, you'll have 4 dead cards...

I'd use 2 Doom Blade, 3 Magma Jet, 4 Desecration Demon... ...3 Hero's Downfall, no Rokdos's Return mainboard, & 3 Read the Bones...

Playing white just for the sideboard 2 Boros Charm ain't worthit.... ...may be you should consider Chained to the Rocks...

I really do like the basic idea!

I've already been to FNM today, since I'm in another time zone :)

I've toke this deck myselfe: http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/merciless-verdict-serenity/

...& I gave my friend this1 & we went to the same store: http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/master-of-revelations/

I've finished 1st place(thanks to Merciless Eviction - if a play the 2nd & it resolves, it's almost a guarentee I'm gonna' win)...

My friend finished 3rd... ...this is a resellient Master of Waves deck that has a little white in it, but against a very well constructed Jund control deck, that used Golgari Charm & Anger of the Gods as sideboards(very similar to my own Jund control) could deal with it...

Good luck for tonight! You'll probably do ok with this deck... :)

Looks ok though i'd make a few changes.
I've been running BWR myself.

You want 4 demons and 3 dragons in this.
You also want 2 read the bones and 2 thoughtseize in the main, as well as 1 whip of erebos.
Cut 2 doom blade, 2 mortars and the magma jets.
This deck also really wants 25 land. If you stumble on lands you just lose.

Sideboard needs 1-2 more thoughtseize and 3 underworld connections.

Either go 3 colours and run elspeth, chained, obzedat and blood baron or cut the white entirely.
If you do this you want to cut the dragons entirely as theyre MUCH worse than obzedat or blood baron and die to all the removal those 2 dont which means they die immediately when you cast them as your opponent finally gets to use their dead removal spells.
The 3 colour list I've been running looks like this:

Creatures(12):
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Desecration Demon
2 Blood Baron of Vizkopa
2 Obzedat, Ghost Council

Spells(21):
3 Anger of the Gods
2 Dreadbore
3 Hero's Downfall
2 Doom Blade
2 Chained to the Rocks
2 Devour Flesh
1 Rakdos's Return
1 Whip of Erebos
1 Rakdos Keyrune
2 Thoughtseize
2 Read the Bones

Planeswalkers(2):
1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion
1 Chandra, Pyromaster

Land(25):
4 Mountain
2 Plains
4 Blood Crypt
4 Godless Shrine
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Silence
1 Temple of Triumph
2 Rakdos Guildgate

R: 15
W: 15
B: 15

Sideboard(15):
1 Thoughtseize
3 Lifebane Zombie
3 Underworld Connections
1 Rakdos's Return
1 Mizzium Mortars
2 Shock
1 Anger of the Gods
3 Sin Collector

PS: Im not convinced the W is needed in this deck but if youre gonna splash it at all, you may as well do it fully.

I like that list of youres... ...very well balanced... ...I just think that you don't have enough lifegain for Blood Baron, tough it's still a strong card... ...I 'd cut the Shocks from the sideboard as well as 1 Lifebane & replace them with 1 more Mizzium Mortars & 2 Boros Charm.......

I'd like to see this in action... ...so far, I've seen Archangel of Thrune in action quite a lot, but never along with Blood Baron... ...I think I'd be a strong combination as well as Helix in the deck, plus Obzedat & such... ...Whip of Erebos is really good in this, since it gives lifelink to your creatures, thus assisting Baron & it can bring back Baron from the grave, may be as a 10/10 haste creature, & it also make Baron & Thrune have double-lifelink....... :)

I was thinking on making a deck like this & I might do just that...

Here is my version of the R/B/W control... ...it's quite different, it has a higher mana curve & it's a little more control orientated:

http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/council-of-angels-villians/

I think it's yet to reach it's final form, so suggestions are wellcome...

You don't need life gain for bloodbaron
He read 4/4 pro white/black lifelink
The rest is flavor text essentially his list above is not a bad start a few too many 1 of's for me but the idea is good

Also rules thing
Lifelink does NOT stack you can't double lifelink on archangel of thune or bloodbaron.

I'd replace the mainboard boros charms with Whips of Erebos and Stormbreath Dragons with Blood Barons. Your Obzedats become about a trillion times better with an active whip. I'd probably try to find room for sideboard sin collector and duress as well. The primary advantage to playing black right now is access to thoughtseize and hand disruption, it'd be a shame not to use it. The deck looks grand though.

It looks ok now, but I'd drop 1 Return & add a 3rd Dreadbore... ...also, I'd drop Magma Jet from the sideboard & add 2 extra Chained to the rocks(if the opponent playes more gods)...

I'd also use only 3 Mizzium Mortars & add a 3rd Read the Bones...

You'll have a free space in the sideboard than, because of the 3rd Dreadbore mainboard, so I'd replace it with a 4th Mortars...

I would drop the doom blades into the side board and replace them with hero's downfall. Too many players run black cards now for it to be effective most of the time.

Since Doom Blade 1st came out, I've never used it in the main deck of any of my FNM & other tournament decks... ...tough it alwayes has been a strong sideboard card whenever I needed some extra fast removal...

When it came out in M10, I ran Jund, so I rather used Terminate & Maelstrom Pulse, etc... ...I did not even had any in my sideboard... ...when it was Zendikar & Scars of Mirrodin time, I ran Elves & Gruul-Eldrazi, so I did not use it than either, also, there was Go for the Throat, wich were better.......

Here are the 2 decks I've used on FNM since I got back & the 3rd one is what I'm going to use this week:

http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/consume-the-heroes/

http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/merciless-verdict-serenity/

http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/armada-sent-back-to-aether/

Wich one would you go with?.. ...so far the Esper beat the Jund, Bant beat Jund 75% of the time & alwayes beat the Esper... ...tough I've used Jund & Esper on seperate occasions & I've won the event with each... ...Jund haven't lost a match & te Esper went 2-1 twice.......

1 Rakdos's Return is enough mainboard... ...you can sideboard 1 or 2 more when you're up against a deck that playes 3-4 Sphinx's Revelation, or just simply strong on drawpower... ...so 1 mainboard & 2 sideboard is fine...

I'd use 3 Boros Charm in the main deck... ...it has 3 very useful abilities as the 4 damage could be a game changer at times, you can protect Reckoner from your own Anger, or any of your creatures from destruction, or combat damage & you can also give a creature double strike, for example Stormbreath Dragon, or the Demon... ...it's so useful that you need to run more than 2 in the main deck & I think 3 is idealic.......

I'd also use only 2 Doom Blade in the sideboard... ...you have more than enough destruction anywayes... ...& for the 2 remeaning spots, I'd use Helix... ...tough I'd rather put a Mortars & a Downfall in the sideboard & use the 2 Helix mainboard...

Magma Jet doesn't do anything as a sideboard... ...I'd rather use an extra Helix & an extra Stormbreath(when you'd need more fast biggies against control pherhaps & he can also deal damage due to cards in hand & against control, it's awesome)...

I apologize if I repeat anything anyone else has said, but I think I would drop a doom blade and an ultimate price (or two price) from the sideboard and add in dark betrayal for black hate. Also, personally I prefer Underworld connections over read the bones. Other than that, I like the look of this deck. I think the use of chandra's 0 ability in this deck could be fun.
