Deck Description

Thinking back to my gruul roots, I decided to make this deck. Basically it's kind of like zoo, but without the white, without the goyf (too expensive!!!!). It's not exactly the best modern deck ever, but it seems like it would be really fun to play, and wouldn't do too badly. In the end it's just giant creatures and burn, which isn't bad at all.

How to Play

Get aggro creatures out, make them huge with all your pump spells, then use your burn to get even more damage in, as well as get rid of any potentially dangerous creatures your opponents play. Goblin guide is an obvious include, because it's simply 1 for a 2/2, plus it has haste, and it's drawback can also be helpful to you because then you know what your opponent is going to draw (as long as it's not a land), and if it is a land, you'll know that they have another land (although that isn't as helpful). Swiftspear is great, swinging in for 1 already on turn 1, then getting pumped even more by your pump spells, and even your burn. Kird ape is an obvious playset, because even though it doesn't have haste, that 1 more toughness makes it A LOT harder to kill. Finally, scavenging ooze, is well, scavenging ooze! Not only does it eat away at your opponent's graveyard, but it also makes it self bigger AND ticks up your life total by 1 in the process. Now for the non-creature spells. Lightning bolt is lightning bolt. Nothing more needs to be said. Atarka's command is a boss in this deck! Not only can it buff your whole team and faceburn your opponent, it can also prevent them from gaining life or preventing damage this turn, and it also has the option of speeding you up by 1 turn. How much better can a card get??? Stoke the flames may seem kind of weird in here, but once you think about it, if you need to get some extra damage in and have a bunch of creatures, you can declare attackers, then instant speed tap 4 of them with stoke and get an extra 4 damage in or get rid of one of their blockers. Lastly, brute force and giant growth are just generic pump spells, muta growth is nice because you can play it for no mana, and vines of vastwood can be terrifically good, either to stop your opponent from killing one of your creatures, or to also beef it up in the process.
