Deck Description

Starter Budget -series is variation of my famous Budget Decks -series.
In this series, I attempt to create decks that go great for starters:
They do not have extremely valuable or complicated cards. Most of them are simple commons and uncommons.
Though, this doesn't mean that these decks aren't threat. In right hands (and some practice, of course,) they can overwhelm very tough opponents.
These decks are meant for those who have just dived into the mysterious depths of Magic: The Gathering, or for those people who like simple and cheap decks. Or, to just anyone!
Budget is meant to be low! (Less than 15 bucks.)

(Remember: If you are new player, do not be afraid to ask if you have questions. Northy has always time for newbies!)

How to Play

This deck teaches new players the might of zombie horde!
All those hungry mouths, bloody mouths and moaning screaches... These babies hunger for flesh.

-Diregraf Ghoul, Black Cat, Butcher Ghoul and Walking Corpse are the game starters. They might seem harmless alone, but soon your horde grows, and so does hunger...
-Murder is powerful kill spell. Also Skinrender works as a kill spell in this deck.
My dear Skindie, go give 'em hell.

Deck discussion for Starter Budget: Zombie

I do love your budget decks. Have you thought about finding room for dark ritual or high tide in here? I realize a play set of either will make this deck over ten dollars, but it would be sweet to turn 2 or 3 rooftop storm.

Usually, I don't use cards like that in Starter decks, but let's put in some luxury this time.

This is a nice, budget zombie starter. I would suggest the following changes though:

1. Sideboard 3 Doom Blade and/or Go for the Throat. If you are going against non-black/non-artifact decks, they are better than Murder.
2. Replace Highborn Ghoul with Butcher Ghoul so that it can come back when it dies.
3. Undead Alchemist might fit well in here, especially if we want to generate lots of zombies.

Added Butcher Ghoul and Bone Splinters. Good enough?

Ah. Bone splinters will indeed work well here :)

Only problem with undead alchemist is you stop dealing damage to create the zombies. I have him in my zombie deck but I also have lich lord of unx, memory sluice and mind sculpt. He kind of changes the strategy and this is for new players.
