Deck Description

Do you want to play EDH? Don't you have an EDH deck? Do you think most of those ready-to-play-decks cost too much for your desires?
...Or do you just think you can't figure out a funny idea for your EDH deck?
NO MORE!
Budget EDH-series is meant for players that want to play EDH.
They are playable and their price is low! (Between 25 and 50 bucks.)

How to Play

Inspired by cleinen561.

Merieke Ri Berit knows how to create some annoying time for your opponent. She is able to steal creatures from your opponent without any mana payment! When your opponent casts something even cooler, use abilities to untap Merieke in order to take that creature instead!

Otherwise this deck is based around of casting counterspells and removal to handle all the problems your opponent is going to cast. Your friends are going to hate this deck, but remember these wise words: "Haters gonna hate."
Have a lot of fun!

Deck discussion for Budget EDH: Twisted Control

Arena of the Ancients is a star in my Merieke deck. It doesn't really affect you at all, and it screws everyone else over. I also run Leyline of Singularity as an anti-token measure, and the combo is absolutely devastating.

Thank you a lot for suggesting!
The arena is just awesome over here!
That Leyline is not probably going in though, since I already have Divine Reckoning, Day of Judgment, Aetherize and Aetherspouts as attacker-wipers. I still thank you for that suggestion.

This deck looks just like the kind of deck I need to face my friend with.

The problem with Merieke decks is it can lead to a really chilled board state and slow non-interactive games because nobody wants to play stuff knowing it'll just get taken. At least with Rubinia you assume she'll just take the biggest beater and keep it, but Merieke wants to take EVERYTHING.

I bust the deck out on occasion but to be honest it just makes for an unfun experience for everyone way too often to play regularly. YMMV there.

I was just going to use it when other people make me mad.

That's exactly when I use mine. "Oh, you saw the table was goofing around with someone playing morph tribal and a guy using only cards featuring pirate artwork but you decided to play a two-thousand dollar Kozilek deck anyway? Yeah I'm just gonna take all your crap and hit you with it."

^ that right there sums up what i do to people i know who need knocked down a few notches. i dont have a deck like this one, but my infect, rakdos aggro, vampires, and wurm rush (ESPECIALLY my wurm rush) decks are usually pretty good at killing their win streak. really it depends on what they are running that determines just what kind of beating they need. if they insist on doing lots of spells on everyone's turn like control or burn, then its wurms. if they like to try aggro, then i use rakdos aggro. if they value protection, then infect. and if i just cant decide, then its vampires.

Cards like Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura would allow you to untap Merieke for one mana.

Illusionist Bracers seems like it would be a star in this deck. Being able to grab two creatures seems like it would be awesome in multiplayer games....maybe a bit greedy though.

This deck is really cool! You should totally make a deck with no creatures, that mills, that would be amazing!
