Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Mono-Black Gobbo

This is epic, especially with two fear goblins and Mob (for extra goblins!) and Earwig Squad (exile cards from deck, AND get a 5/3 for 3? Yes sir!)

You certainly know which cards are good, exodd!

Stinkdrinker Bandit can be huge buffer and can be paid for prowl cost (which includes goblins too)

How could I forget old good Stinkdrinker?

I'm wondering how you feel about:
+1 Earwig Squad
+1 Knucklebone Witch
+1 Stinkdrinker Bandit
+? Auntie's Snitch

I only ask because they gain value as your creature weight increases; I'm not suggesting they are "good" ideas. I'm not sure what you would take out though, the mana curve is nice right now. Hmm...

I do like it though!

On one hand, I do agree that Earwig seems like an easy choice to cut, but something that is overlooked when examining "budget" deck builds is how the deck evolves into a more costly one (assuming you build on it after playing it some). Earwig Squads main purpose should be seen as a turn 3 prowl, and assuming you went first, it allows you to remove a key card from worry before the third turn draw. However, having x3 of a card with "this kind" of purpose is a personal preference of mine :P

I was considering making a mono red goblin deck but it would cost me about $80. I knew there were black goblins but never looked into them. Nice deck and I'll definitely consider making/buying this deck or something similar. Thanks!

Nice synergy, and you can't complain about the cost of putting this one together.

I have a few of these in my red/black goblin deck. Started out mono red but some of these guys made it worth splashing black. Plus it gave me a reason to add patriarchs bidding which is a great card for any tribal deck that has black in it..... Cough cough. Sweet mono goblin deck though!

Good suggestion. But I feel it is more like sideboard material in this deck.

Hey man, I know you've been building budget decks, so I thought I'd throw in a contrast, sorry this doesn't apply to this deck, but I don't know what to say about decks like this! Anyway here it! http://www.mtgvault.com/gothy/decks/building-on-a-big-budget-gr/

I had 10 bucks laying around and decided to give this deck a go. Threw in an extra 5 to foil everything out jus' cause, but I must say I love using it. I've been trying come up with some unique tribal themes after the centaur deck I made and I hit a brick wall. All the brown ouphe/chub toad decks didn't work lol

Sounds great! You are one of the few who actually have created these in real life!
Thumbs up for you man!
I'm also sorry for your toad and ouphe tribal decks.

Hmmmm. I would of thought more people would have. Your skill of combining frugality with effective competitiveness is very impressive. Also given your apparent popularity on this website as well. Sometimes I feel that people have forgotten that they can actually have fun playing Magic, if that makes sense. I've been trying to think of an obscure creature type for a tribal deck, something that hasn't been necessarily been done yet or not that often. Would you have any knowledge of a creature type of that nature?

One thing that came to my mind is sea monster deck. Leviathans, Krakens, Octopuses and Serpents combined with benefits of Whelming Wave doesn't get much play.
Another idea could be squirrel tribal. There aren't too many around here, but in the other hand, they do cost a lot of money.
Third idea is bird tribal. Soulcatcher, Soulcatcher's Aerie, Favorable Winds, Gravitational Shift... That kinds of cards make bird tribals into a formidable foes. Also, don't forget the mighty Storm Crow.
