Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Hero of Hours

Sigh lost to this with a pretty good full powered standard deck on mtgo... the powered up variant of course, but that savage punching you into solidarity with hardened scales on sage is just.... tear inducing... +1 :D

I just understood what solidarity did. Holy crud.

What is the decklist for the powered up variant?

Bioshift? It'll move counters from creature to creature in a pinch. Also, just casting it gives another counter (or multiple) before you move them around.

EDIT: I realized after I posted this that it's standard and Bioshift is not. Stupid me.

It's okay.
I even added the Bioshift while I was creating this, but then I noticed how silly I was and replaced them with Solidarity of Heroes. Guess I'm stuck in Return to Ravnica block...
XDDD

Hero of Leina Tower would also be good, especially late-game.

Sandsteppe Mastodon for an instant 5 +1/+1 counters?

0

probably bad here cause you can't control too much of where the bolster goes. would rather see Incremental growth for a similar effect

0

Yeah, Incremental Growth would probably result a whole lot of counters.

sandsteppe will actually get the control quite frequently if you can bounce him each turn.

See Sage of Hours+Sandsteppe Mastodon+Temur Sabertooth

Trying to build an abzan/outlast deck. Might you have one/wanna build one? I like your decks and I just enjoy using ideas to build off on my own with. Can you help out? Nice deck though. I enjoy +1/+1 counters lol

Yeah. I can craft an Abzan deck for you. Haven't done too many of those anyways.
It'll be done shortly.

I used some Bolster-mechanic too, if you don't mind.

I was extremely skeptical when RandomDecks proposed this deck. But I'm surprised by how much this works. Truly shows how good NorthernWarlord is at making decks.

Stick a Daghatar the Adamant in this deck ($0.10) and a few dragonscale generals ($0.20).

I'll throw them into the sideboard for now. Thank you for suggesting!

Awesome, bolster would really help the sage. I know why you have awaken the bear in there but I think Feat of Resistance would play better into pumping up sage.

Pretty nice deck!!

I used Sage of Hours in standard with Ajani, Mentor of Heroes (putting 3 counters on sage) and Vorel of the Hull Clade (doubling) to go infinite but it isn't budget at all XD.

Well it was that's why after I won that tournament I never touched the deck again... I want everyone to have fun and I thought by making this deck "There is no way I could get a 3 card combo to go off that well." But it did mostly turn 4 to 5 because of my ramp and I felt like a dick.

this is the most interesting heroic deck ive seen. although i think you need another win con in case the board gets stale. what about a single avacynh?

0

wrong format man, this deck is built for standard, which is a format that Avacyn isn't legal in.

Got to recommend one of my favorites, Triton Tactics. I think it would fit well in here. +1 for the deck.

Yeah. Adding Triton Tactics to the sideboard. Thanks.

0

Triton Tactics is usually a total blowout against creature heavy decks.

I like it to keep my guys alive from anger of the gods/pyroclasm type spells.

How about Setessan Tactics in place of Awaken the Bear? Gets damage through but can also be mass removal and target more heroes

Would definitely recommend Hunt the Weak over savage punch, it's more expensive mana-wise but i think it will work better for you in the long run as far as pulling off your combo goes.

also if you get the chance you should take a look at this deck, thanks if you get the chance

Oh! Increasing Savagery would be great! One extra turn for four mana, then two extra for seven mana! That seems like it would be pretty good.

EDIT: Damn it! I keep forgetting this is standard! My ideas never work >:c

Thanks a bunch either way.

Okay, this combo might not actually come into play, but Sunbond to put onto Sage of Hours, and then Ajani, Mentor of Heroes. If you are able to use his third ability, you get 20 extra turns, which you can then use to spam +1/+1 counters and use it again. Plus, every second usage (or even every usage) of his first ability can trigger an extra turn, making hitting the third ability faster.
WAIT! THIS IS BUDGET!
Darn it

Just thought of something else, any thoughts on Nature's Panalopy or Dragonscale Boon? Dragonscale is 2 counters and another from Heroic. Plus untap.

If hardened scales is out, that's 4 counters.

Also, if launch the fleet isn't too expensive, one may play well into the deck. You can target 5 creatures for 5 mana, make 5 tokens.

Hey North I was thinking if you put in Battlefield thaumaturge to decrease the cost of your cards like lauch the fleet. also his ability says for instant or sorcery spell you cast cost one less colourless that targets a creature. meaning that launch the fleet only cost 1 white. sounds cruel when i saw the card.

Use Heliod's Pilgrim+Ordeal of Heliod+ Sunbond+ Mortal's Ardor/Lifelink to get a super mega ultra high boost in tokens, like I do here: http://www.mtgvault.com/ibajiah/decks/budget-decks-white-outlast/

and here:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ibajiah/decks/aura-fetch/

The trololo effect of this one combo alone is enough to have your opponent quiverin' in their booties

BTW, definitely stealing Sage of hours to put into my deck :-)
